a peculiar question...
This might come off as a little odd but is silicon oil supposed to smell like pepper? i just want to confirm that what i have is in fact silicon oil before i put any on my gun :P

Silicon oil shouldn't have any scent. Atleast the stuff from AI doesnt

A lot of oils are mixed with petroleum distillate and called Silicon Oil or some other false name to mislead people and lower costs (when in fact they are only partly silicon oil). Beware what you use because PD is bad for plastics.

I keep two varieties of grease on hand for mechbox work.
The G&P grease set seen here http://www.kastwayairsoft.com/Produc...et__GP152.aspx Which includes Bearings/bushings grease, Cylinder grease and Gear grease . And I also keep some Guarder teflon grease on hand. http://airsoftglobal.com/product_inf...oducts_id=4814 as seen here. Its a decent simple goob for general mechbox use. For actual silicone oil, I keep a bottle of AI light weight silicone oil and some unknown can of Japanese spray silicone lubricant amade for airsoft guns.
