Non Rubber Penetrating GBB Silicon Oil?

My KSC G19 has been giving me some problems with the hop-up rubber lately. The rubber swells up and becomes ineffective. The first time this happened i was still a noob to airsoft and i just oiled the crap out of my gun using the 100% silicon oil from Airsoft Innovations. The second time around i was much more cautious with the oil and only applied it every once in a while, always avoiding the hopup rubber. I oil my mags about every 4-5 mag fills with 2 to 3 drops each time. This is what is recomended and i dont see how this could be causing the problem.

I was wondering whether you have any suggestions on what i could be doing differently when maintaining my airsoft gun. Maybe use a different grease to oil the moving parts in my airsoft gun, even though many people suggest using only 100% pure silicon oil on GBB maintenance?

As you can see this is not how the rubber is supposed to fit into the hop up assembly...

Swelled up rubber (right) compared to a new, undamaged hop up rubber (left).

I see this all the time.

Oil your mags every so often and use a high viscosity grease / oil on the slide rails

But, I'm not too experienced with GBB's..

I've never had that experience with any GBB I've used. That's.... strange.

I'd heard that KSC's hopup rubber was notorious for swelling like that. I've had the the same problem in my first g17, and later on in my M11's. Buy spares, and keep them dry. Don't over use oil in your mags, say 2 drops every 8 to 10 mags (like it says on my AI silly-oil bottle) and use another form of lubrication for your moving parts. (heh-heh) Say superlube or white lithium grease...

M

EDIT: I love this stuff. SUPER-LUBE. It's the Gel tube you want. Stalker pointed me to it and it's worked great.

Yeah the first time this happened i blamed it on my own foolishness, but this is two times now... Good point Amos and Murdoch, i may need to change my oil/grease (any suggestions?) for moving parts and stick with the silicon oil for mags.
