A&K M249 will not quit firing!
I just received my m249 from airsoft gi yesterday. Was testing the rifle and it wouldn"t quit firing. I worked the trigger a bit-then it would quit. Pulled the trigger again-something inside stuck and it kept on firing. Had to pull the batt. to get it to quit-anybody else had this problem? Any help with what's possibly wrong would be great.

We haven't had a lot experience with that particular gun here. I'd try Arnies or something.

I can't go to arnies-it won't let me register for some reason. I never get my e-mail confirmation message. Thanks anyways. I'm hoping someone out there will have experience w/ this kind of problem so I can diagnose and fix it.

Are the A&K's a copy of the CA M249's? if so they may have used an even cheaper switch and it might be fusing like the CA's like to do. Maybe try the Advanced CA switch if it's the same design.

m249
The switch referring to is the one at the bottom of this pic, when the trigger is pulled it pushes up on the flat metal bar, making contact inside, they can jam, melt or loose return spring and cause the 249 to keep firing, this has been a problem with star m249 and I am sure A&K being a Chinese clone, could suffer the same fate.
The switch is integrated with the bottom of the gear box, so to replace the switch the grearbox has to come out. Hope this helps some. http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?prodID=20397 |

Any decent electronics store should carry switches like that one. Your best bet would be to remove it from the gun and take it to such a store, and let someone there know what kind of power is going through it so you get a switch with the proper rating. I picked up a couple of spare switches for my TOP M249 this way. Very easy and cheap.

Just wanted to update. Yeah, it's the switch. I pulled it and checked it against my 11.1 1250 mah li-poly and my son's 8.4 1100 nicd. The switch would stick w/ either one, but was more inclined to w/ the li-poly. I put some silicone spray in where the little push switch is and it seemed to help. I suspect the switch is hanging up on inside plastic housing cast traces or it is arcing. Ibby- I appreciate the info and ideas-I'll definitely do that.

My m249 did it once when I first got it, I have the Mk II full stock version but it should be relatively the same construction. All you do is take the entire front end off (just push the release catch) also take the bottom piece of plastic off, then open the feed cover and slide the cocking lever back so you can unscrew the little allen screw underneath it, Then uncsrew the other 2 screws at the bottom on the left side of the gun (the one at the top isn't necessary) and remove the cocking handle and spring from the side. You then should be able to remove the gearbox and access the trigger mechanism, the problem should just be the switch lever has got stuck down the side of the trigger. Simply removing the gearbox and putting it back in will probabily sort it.

The cheap Korean switch in the gun was arcing. I took Ibby's advice and went to an electronics store and bought 4 switches-2 high qualiy(2 usd each) and 2 cheap ones- 1 buck a piece. Gun now fires like a raped ape.
