ROF Questions

Okay I got a couple of questions for you guys. Little bit of background, this is on a TM MC51 w/v2 gearbox. I am looking at making a high ROF but reliable CQB gun. I am getting the following upgrades as soon as they show up in the mail. Once I have the upgrades installed I am going to try and figure out my ROF.

List of upgrades;
6.04 Systema Inner barrel
Element Silent Head Set
Guarder SP110
Guarder Spring guide
Pro Arms Super Light Weight Piston
Intellect 9.6v 2000mAh Ni-Mh Battery

My first question is pretty simple. At what ROF should you install a sector gear clip?

Next question is a little more involved. I have heard some people say that you can get more ROF by taking the first 2 teeth off of the sector gear. What is considered the first 2 teeth? The first to hit the piston? Also, is there a downside to this method other then a little lower FPS?

Third question, at what ROF does a midcap have a tendency to not keep up? In other words, what ROF should I stay under?

Thanks for the help in advance.

you need a sector clip when your gun starts misfeeding, at ANY rate of fire.

1. I have yet to hear of anyone who needed one. I imagine you would have to be over 1200 rpm before you'll need one, but that is just a guess.

2. Don't grind the gears. The sector gear will be exiting on a plastic tool instead of the designed metal tooth. Can't be good for it. UNLESS, all your teeth are metal or at least the last one is. Some pistons have the last 5-8 teeth all metal so it depends.

3. Get your midcap, load it, pull back the retaining pin and time how long it takes to empty the mag. About 100 bb's, in less then a second, come flying out. Thats your max rate of fire.

If short your setup is fine and should actually work quite well. There are a few changes you can do to make it fire faster, but you said the parts were already ordered.

Sweet good to know. I got the 9.6v battery just for the purpose of increasing ROF. If I am correct in my assumption, the light weight piston should also increase it a little.

So if I want to mod the sector gear I would have to get an aluminum piston or at least a piston with more metal teeth, correct? I will have to see what my ROF is with my current setup and make the call from there. I want to see a steady stream of plastic death coming from the end of my gun, LOL.
