MS120 Spring
If you put a MS120 spring into your gearbox do you need to get the reinforced stuff?? And I don't really want to gamble with it so...... I thought I read somewhere that the MS120 is the top you can go without reinforcing. If anyone knows it would be greatly appreciated.

You dont need to reinforce a Ver.3 mechbox.. it will handle an MS120

Prometheus MS120 will push you to about 420 and as high as 440. They are about 10% underrated. MS110 will give you about 360-380. I had to step down to the MS110 as my old ICS had a really tough time with the MS120.

Most of your parts should be able to handle that spring just fine for a season or so, but one part you may want to consider replacing is your spring guide if your stock one is plastic.
Your piston should last the season as well - depending on how often you play. |

Well I have an aluminum piston on its way so that shouldn't be a problem. I was also looking at getting an upgraded spring guide too. Thanks for the advice guys.
One last question though. What is an accurate chrono on a Prom MS120 spring. I have heard a few differant figures. |

It depends on what other upgrades are in the gun, the length of your inner barrel, the bore diameter, the gun platform you're installing it on, the BBs you're using... even the type of chronograph you're using can yield a different result (optical versus radar.)
This is *my* accurate chrono reading: http://airsoftcanada.com/SpringChart.html Keep in mind that my particular reading may be correct for my setup, but you may yield a completely different result, depending on the factors I mentioned above. |

I can say from experience that an MS110, Prom 6.03, Spring Guide, and Bushings in a G36C will give you 350 fps. In an SR-16 with MS120, Hurricane Spring Guide, Area 1000 Bushings you will get 390.

CA G36 (full size, not C or K versions) with 495mm 6.04mm tightbore, TM piston/piston head, all other internals stock CA parts, and Prom MS110 gives me 390fps with .20's.
PDI 170% in a TM P90, all stock internals, gave 402fps with .20's Prom MS110, bearing spring guide, and stock inner barrel in a TM M733 gave 355-360fps If you want to get near 400fps with a rifle (M16, G36, etc.) then an MS110 is usually fine, if you want to get near 400fps with a carbine (M4, G36C, etc.) then you probably need an MS120. |

I'm using a Prom MS120 spring in my CA M15 with a Madbull V2 6.03 tightbore, Guarder alum piston, alum piston head, guarder V2 dual O-ring cylinder head, stock CA gears and spring guide and am only getting 340fps with .25's. Makes my wonder what would happen if I was to put my Prom MS150 spring in.

Which CA M15 are you using, carbine or full length? 340fps with 0.25g BBs is ~380 fps with 0.2g which is not far from what LUTNIT suggested.

It's a little bit on the low end of what's expected, but it's not totally out of line. An MS110SP on your particular setup would yield about 360fps with 0.20g BBs. |

I was getting a solid 350 with .25 with the MS110 and 395 with .25 with the MS120 in and ICS M4 (stock internals).
