Question FAMAS carry handle question

I was thinking of buying a tm famas and customizing it by removing its rail, nobody i know has one so I was wondering can that big carry handle lookin thing on the top be removed? can you easily remove it like a m4? if not does anybody know if there are any wires running through it?

How about you ask a moderator to move this question into the Upgrades and Modifications section, where it should be?
The FAMAS handle is part of the frame.

It may not be a good choice to buy one of the oldest models out there, and you still need to get age-verified.

It can be difficult to impossible to find replacement parts for the FAMAS and the ver.1 mechbox isn't very strong so can't take much in the terms of upgrades. The majority of upgrade parts out there are for ver.2 (armalites and MP5's) and ver.3 (AK, G36, AUG, UMP, Sig, etc.) mechboxes since those are the two most common mechbox types. If your looking for a bullpup specifically I recommend the CA or TM AUG or the STAR L85. All of which are quite a bit more expensive than the TM FAMAS but are much better guns.

If you absolutely have to have a FAMAS it is possible to cut off the handle but I think it may effect the structural strength of the gun as a whole if you do.

Wasn't there someone on the forums that cut theirs off and put a g36c on it?

It was a P90 lower attached to the FAMAS with a G36c top rail, was hardcoil (hes Danish) that did it, project site here: http://www.hardcoil.net/airsoft/guns/xa23.html

In his most recent comments on the last page he makes comments about it being really creaky (all FAMAS' are as far as I know, very plasticy guns) and felt like it was going to break at any moment.

I did that mod. Easy as pie.

Cutting off the handle does not effect the strength of the gun.

Yeah, that was Tankdude. He did that to my gun for me, the end result is pure sex.

Here's a better picture:

But to answer the original question, that still belongs in the Upgrades and Modifications section; the handle is still part of the frame and cannot be detached.
Cutting it goes into a different level of work, and that is not what the person asked.
