Gun and Battery question

Ok I'm trying to make my own battery. I've got a TM MP5A4 and on a store bought battery at 8.4 600mah it works wonderfully. Now on my homemade one it doesn't work, no sounds at all or motor movement, even out of the gun. The homemade battery is a 8.4 700mah made out of a 7.2 700mah with regular rechargable AA at 1.2 1600mah. Could this difference is mah be my problem?

not sure I follow. How can you make a 700mah battery using 1600mah cells?

edit: I hope your not mixing 700 and 1600 cells... or NCd and NMH cells.

do you have a multimeter handy? If so, check the voltage running through it. My geuss is youve got a bunch of weak cells/too much resistance. Thats why you should avoid cheapo RC car batteries. I once had a 9.6 that wouldnt turn over my G&G.

Should add that this can happen if you damage the cells while soldering them also...
