you can't heat treat aluminum. You can anodize aluminum. Then again, you wont have to anodize aluminum depending on what grade of aluminum you use. T6 aluminum is the standared in aircraft material and is the standard now for high performance parts.

Sorry for the off-topic post but I just had to say this:
I didn't realize that a secure digital card was an integral part of any airsoft gun. Your memory card shows up in almost every single picture |

Yeah, about that…
I had no room left on it and took it out so I could use the internal memory- when I had shot about 5, I realized it was there… then decided ‘what the hell’ and left it there for size comparisons. There’s also a pen somewhere or other, too. And, we all know that it gives it an awesome velocity boost, allows it to use propane AND helps gas efficiency, right?... Right? As per. rx78gp02 Anodized aluminum? T6? Sorry, I’m lost now Wish I could afford aircraft-grade stuff.

Wow. I really should get it heat-treated then. However, back to the original question- Does anyone know of a place that can do these, and if so, any info? Has anyone done this before? I'm looking into alpha-casting, but the outlook is that price will be very, very high.

I currently have a KJW M9 outer barrel issue. since it's practically impossible to find a decent replacement part I turned to one of the Machineshop guys at my CURRENT job (I only have a week left before I leave here and start a new job). Well the machineshop guy has been nice enough to craft me a new outer barrel for my M9 from industrial grade stainless steel (Don't ask me the number right now cause I don't remember at the moment). Now I told the guy there might be some more business availble to him. NOW if you want me to ask the guy to machine you some steel parts for your gun, give me an idea of what your willing to spend and I'll see if I can convince him to do it. keep in mind it's a long process because he uses his breaks to do the work, and well making parts for Nuclear reactors take's precendent over small nonwork related projects, but if the money is right he'd probably just come in on a day off and do the work. let me know

O RLY? Amazing!
If this guy’s reliable, and does a good job, I can pay a few hundred now that I’m starting my new job. It’ll take a little while to put the money aside, but even if it isn’t steel I’m willing to negotiate a price with him, it’s more likely to tip in his favour depending on what he can or can’t do. If I can get some of the pictures on Page 1 to him, I’ll have a better idea of what to expect and what to have to pay.

what type of parts are you guys talking about? if its a barrel no problem I could set up a small CNC lathe to pop one out in a matter of minutes. slides are harder running a slide on a milling machine would take forever so casting it then milling would be the easy and cheap way of doing it. the small crap like sears hammers sprockets and stuff are all castings simply because it would take to much time to produce and there would be to much waisted.
dont forget that if you want something made by CNC either a barrel on a lathe or a reciever in a milling maching your going to be paying through your teeth for someone to program setup run the machine as well as the power to operate and the materiel used

Ah, awesome.
This is the slide, frame and barrel, BTW, no parts inside. It's fairly no-nonsense, but the barrel's the only simple part (as you mentioned). Any method that works is welcome.
