GB build up

hi,
i´m writing from germany so please forgive,for my
(sometimes not always correct)english....

after playing around with my guns,for a year in unmodifyed condition,
i decided to build my own gearbox together and give it that little twist to it.

here is my current set up....

gearbox= pro-gear reinforced gearbox v2
piston= deep-fire titanium full-theeth
Gears= prometheus eg hard gear set
cylinderhead= ics silent-head-set
cylinder= prometheus stainless hard cylinder
bushings= guarder steel (oil-reservoir)
spring= guarder sp110
springguide= guarder steel(bearings)
selectorplate= prometheus hard plate
tappetplate= guarder reinforced
cutofflever= guarder steel
switchunit= systema low resistence
nozzel= guarder
arl latch= guarder steel
trigger= hurricane steel

everything is shimmed and lubed the right way and assembled,but i have one question...

i´m not sure if i should switch over to a normal deepfire reinforced piston(titaniumteeth´s seems a little to much on the gear´s) and also downgrade the spring to a sp100,
(with guardersprings u never really know ),as i want my set up to be a little more
reliable.

this set up is going to do it´s work in a brand new G&G GR16 G4(2006 bash)

another question:
should i stick with my 9,6V1500mAh batt´s or step up to 10,8V1700mAh and also switch to a TM eg1000?

greetings from the other side of the world

Hello!

Seems more and more people are finding this site from all over the world, cool.

To your question. I would switch to a systema /guarder polycarbonate piston instead of the titanium one. I have used both titanium and aluminum pistons in the past, and they were nothing but trouble in the long run.

Given the components you are planning on using, eventually something will break. My personal preference is for a piston to go ($15US, easy to replace) than a set of gears ($50US, more time consuming to replace, have to reshim etc). Not to say that a titanium piston will cause your gears to lose teeth or shatter, but it will definitely cause more wear on your gears and in the long run you may have to replace them sooner.

Actually it's a funny thing. I've gone through Guarder, systema, ics, PDI, pistons... and what am I running right now in all three (AKSU, M14, M4) of my rifles? A stock TM piston with a nice guarder piston head attached. For some reason, stock TM pistons seem to last a nice long time, and are cheap and easy to find when I do need a new one.

Your spring should be fine, that's not too hot. As for your battery, 9.6v should be just fine. I am assuming your are perhaps running an ANPEQ battery box or a crane stock etc? You seem to be limiting yourself to low MAH batteries. If there is the option, increasing to a higher MAH battery, say, 2400mah or 3000mah would do wonders for both the ability of the motor to crank the spring, and the amount of shots you get out of the battery.

As for motors, if you're spending that much money on the rest of the parts, go for an Eagle Force or Systema motor, they're the best around.

As Kokanee said, stick to a 9.6V, but up the capacity if you can. You can get 2500mAh batteries that will fit in a redimag or ANPEQ.

hi there,

u would wonder how many of us are here for reading post´s.....

i had the same piston in mind before....the blue guarder...
and secondly the polycarbonate deepfire reinforced piston.

i think i will try the guarder as i heard a whole lot of good things about them....

man,i spend hour´s of shimming and now i have to open the thing back up...

that show´s me:
allway´s go with your first thought.....

as for the marui piston...
it is better as some folks will think,but i want to be on the save side on this one

the readymag that came with the gun,gives me only space for those 1700mAh small type batt´s (9,6V/10,8V/12V),
so i´m in a little trap right here....

i don´t really have problems to purchase another 2-3 empty magazine shells and drop some more batterie´s into it,as each game is not too long and give´s me the chance to switch during pause´s.

i was also thinking about a ANPEQ 9,6V 3300mAh,
but after seeing them on a M4 RAS,
i found that those things are sooooo ugly + put a whole lot of weight to the front what makes the whole thing frontheavy as hell.
but that´s just my own opinion...

to be able to use a crane stock i would have to rewire and take everything
out of the GB.... not again....!

i think,i will stick with the readymag style on this gun,as i spended a good amount of hard earned money already.

as for the motor,i really think that a EF1300 would smash my internals in a very short time.
faster than i can say....what the #+ä+?!...
systema sound´s good to me,but i will have to wait till next time ordering parts as my budged isn´t sky high .

i want to thank you very much for taking your time for reading and answering my post.u helped me a lot with my decision,on how to move on.

greetings

How many rounds are you going through in a full day of play?

9.6v 1700mah should get you at least 2000rounds on that setup. And that's alot of spray and pray.

hi,

well,it depends...i would say,on a busy day,maybe 1100-1500 rounds.
sometimes i play semi only and since all my guns have been totally stock,
i have to perform in the midrange field,but this is about to change...

i´m sure that i should be good with my 9,6V 1700´s + my current 9,6V 1500 as a backup solution.

just yesterday,i talked to one of my friends about swaping the deepfire piston to a polycarbonate.he pointed out that my spring is not that strong at all and would not put too much wear on the gears.
(he also uses the deepfire with titanium theeth in three of his gun´s(M150)with no problems)
BUT,
since i´m using prometheus gears,i should either shave the second tooth on my deepfire piston,
or,
if i still want to spend that money,
to go with a prometheus hardpiston,as they the only one´s,that work the best with prometheus gears...

as for the motor,
i will take the g&g components
(gearbox and motor)
and swap it in my TM M16A2 and give the EG1000(don´t know much about the stock G&G motor) a try as it is almost brand new(less than 1500rds) + i will have a spare gearbox....u never know

right now,i´m fighting against a really bad cold that i have.
but after i get back i will start to asemble everything
and hope that things work out well for me.

comments are still welcome

greetings
