Edit: I also think that the "Not lasting a single season" is a little exadurated...
I have seen many armalites with busted tabs., many before a single season is out. Any mechbox work greatly increases the chances of busting the tabs since they need to be slightly flexed when closing the mechbox.
If not busted tabs, increased flex from the frontend on the reciever. Even worse if you have a foregrip, or a LAM unit. The frontend threads onto the plastic threads of the reciever...its solid enough, but the plastic around the front isnt.

I can easily Machine reinforced tabs out of metal.

I've got a friend who's dad is a metalsmith.

um, not really gonna do much. Unfortunatly there is very little room to work with here, and metal tabs or not, there will be a weak point to where they meet the reciever.
SOme people smear epoxy over the tabs to try and built up slightly more material, but it usually results in the same end. In summery, metal tabs, on a plastic reciever pose the same snapping issues as the origional tabs.

Btw, Is there a site where I can look @ SystemA mechboxes?

Here's a question.

Importing a SystemA mechbox... Will it pass customs?

Because I can get one ordered to my uncle in the states... Then get it here... without the massive canadian import fee..

... Would it count as a metal body?

Because... o.o; That didn't say anything about full mechboxes.... (just making sure)

"Springs, bushings, gears, pistons, or other gearbox parts" Allowed.
However, you might wanna check with someone else about the full mechbox.

You might have some trouble, If anything tell your uncle to label it as a Toy Gearbox. Not metal reciever or else you might have some problems.
Or tell your uncle to package it in a see through package with the label saying electronic Gearbox (paintball/toy) and all the gun related words crossed out...

read that thread.

knowing how to take care of a gun and knowing that the plastic TM reciever on the armalites is stupidly weak are two different things.
Regardless of how long you have been in airsoft, it doesnt chage the fact that TM armalite body tabs are known to break.
Doesnt take 5 years experience to know the flaws of plastic bodies.
Hahaha, don't worry it takes a lot more than a couple words typed by you to get me worked up. And now for something completely different:

My point in all of this is that saying that all Armalite tabs will break right away or that all Armalites have extreme amounts of barrel wobble is simply not true and making these false claims to noobs just isn't right, why spread such information?

I do agree 100% with you that the tabs are one of the many weak points of the Armalite series but with proper handling and care a plastic body is perfectly fine.

Okay so you've never fielded the gun but you broke a tab, do tell how you managed to do that? Was it per chance when you were closing the 2 halves of the gun you forgot to basically "tuck" the tabs into the lower receiver before snapping the 2 halves together?

Every out of the box TM armalite I have seen has barrel wobble.
Ill Use Bat21's(randy) gun and mine. Both Tm SR16s, brand new. Both experience atleast 1 inch left or right barrel wobble. Mine, out of the box, had over 2 inches of left or right wobble. Even with tightining and locktight. My reciever developed hairline cracks around the front mounting collar from me putting pressure on the RIS rounted forgrip.
I have seen this on brand new M16s, M4s, M4RAS, etc.
The only TM armalite that I have seen that doesnt have this issue is the Ssystem.
I tell new people that, because I see it, and I get countless new players who buy a gun, play for a few months, and come to me asking where they can get a reciever because their tabs are broken.

Proper care is obious. Keeping things tightened and clean. Proper handeling is not so simple. Some go out and treat their gun like its made of glass...some go out and treat their gun like its a gun.

I suspect your gun has survived so long because you used the Nitro V rail. Adding a metal spine from end to end will stop wobble and prevent tab snappage. Or having multiple guns reduces the amount of usage.

I got my gun used, And it had trouble with the black gunk all over the connectors, An when me and my buddy pulled apart the gun, one of the tabs was already broken off, We still have the tab, and we're going to try securing it back on with a very high strength plastic glue that I've got, Then we're going to reinforce it with a small peice of aluminum.. Hopefully that'll work.
