BB Bastard charger
I'm in the market for a charger for my 8.4v mini (800mah) and I came across this charger. On their webpage it makes it seem like it can only be used with their 1100mah batteries and I wasn't sure if that was the case or not. Does anyone have experience with these chargers that could point me in the right direction as to if this will kill my battery or not. Thanks in advance and I hope this wasn't posted somewhere else (I searched though, couldn't find anything on it).

That thing has 0.9A and 1.8A availability. You should be fine charging your 800mah battery on 0.9A setting. I think that the suggestion means that you shouldnt charge anything less than, or equal to 1100mah on the 1.8A setting.

I've noticed that my 800mah battery gets really hot when it goes into the trickle charge maintence cycle. But while its charging it seems fine. Just keep an eye on it.

Sounds good. Just want to make sure because I didn't want to fry my battery at the sake of saving a few dollars up front. Thanks for the quick replies guys.

BB Bastard's charger can be used with batteries well above 1100mah, most chargers can. Use the 0.9A setting, that's feeding your battery at a normal rate, 1.8A is usually reserved for if you're in a hurry or has a really high voltage battery. And batteries and chargers normally get hot while in operation, anyways, so I usually leave mine beside an open window.

You could very well be right Renegade, I should have mentioned that I speak from personal experience. (800mAh Ni-Cd on 0.9A with that charger has worked safely in my observations) As for the advised mAh to be used, I was wrong. It is reccomended for use with >1100mAh on the following website. Best bet would, indeed, be to contact Scarecrow. There's more specs on the charger here.
I've never had a problem- but that's not to say that you won't. I apologize for the misinformation. |

I remember asking him the very same question about 3 weeks back when I bought a charger and two batteries from him (I was planning on buying a 800 mah mini too, but wanted to know if I could use it first), here's what he responded:

wow...it turns out I mis-read my battery, it was a 600mah, I guess I'll just have to upgrade to a different battery.
