Rapid fire 1911
Well I am having this odd problem with my 1911. I bought this pistol non functional and have been repairing it. The hammer will go on fits of not locking back and this causes it to fire on it's own when the slide returns and out of control full auto was not what I was going for. Ok t is missing the grip safety would that cause any issues like this. Hope someone knows how to fix this odd problem.

Sounds like the hammer leaf spring isent contacting the hammer disconnect, if you take it apart the middle prong of the leaf spring should rest on the hammer disconnect, if its not touching it at all or just barely that’s probably the issue, i had something similar happen to me when i was swapping out the grip for my tm hi capa the leaf spring sat lower in the new grip than it did with the stock one and it would lock the hammer back once when fired then go full auto.
