Was it a T16 R4? Or did you perhaps mean a TR4-18 Light? (G&G has such great model names )

If the latter: correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think its possible to clone a Mk18 using a 416?
Isn't the 416 upper receiver taller than the mk18? The rail sits a bit higher above the bore iirc.
If you stick a DD mk18 rail on a 416, wouldn't there be a visible difference in the height of your receiver rail and your fore end rail?
That’s my bad.

I did not buy a 416 to clone an MK18.
You are correct- it is a TR4-18 light

My eventual goal is to clone my MK18, but not with the 416. I bought the 416 as a means to get into the sport, and with the 10.5” barrel and quad rail, the 416 was close enough to pick up to get started and have something similar to my IRL setup. If/when I decide to get a little more invested into airsoft, I’ll do a proper replica of my gun.

Ahhhh ok.

Well if you want one guy's honest opinion about mk18's: just buy a reasonable looking copy of one,
because mk18 cloning is kind of a rabbit hole, especially if you're trying to get a deadset proper replica (plus you've got another complicating issue with your ambi requirements).
If you're absolutely set on wanting an expensive project to dump money into then perhaps start by finding a base gun that fits your ambi needs and then modding it.
As far as right handed "officially licensed" mk18 rifles you've got a few options that are all slightly different with different things to obsess and nitpick over.

Madbull: makes officially licensed daniel defense mk18 & sopmod block II rails with proper trademarks. These are sold individually as upgrade parts. They come in black and a "shiny" bronze that looks closer to the commercial mk18 rails than the military rails. A lot of people seem to dislike it for that reason, "not clone correct".

VFC: makes mk18 AEGs and GBBRs using the licensed madbull rails with correct trademarks. Madbull however made the rails for these rifles a dark/flat bronze colour that looks much closer to the colour of military mk18 rails. These are only available attached to the rifle they're not sold individually as new upgrade parts AFAIK (though sometimes you see them in the used parts classifieds when VFC rifles are sold parted out). These rifle receivers however have VFC engravings instead of military ones.

Cybergun: makes a mk18 with a licensed colt receiver, not sure about the rail though.

EMG / G&P: They make licensed copies of the newer commercial/civilian "DDMK18" rifles, with licensed rails & Daniel Defense engraved receivers. They come in shiny bronze, flat bronze and that medium brown cerakote DD started offering a while back. These are pretty new and AFAIK they might not be available from Canadian retailers yet.

I’ll check all those out; thanks!

Wanting to set a GBB or EBB up particlarly is more about it mimicking my actual rifle than going specifically with an MK18 clone. Realistically I could make just about any other 10.5” ish rifle with a quad rail work. My actual rifle is definitely not clone correct anyway haha
