Transitioning From Paintball to Airsoft

Hello!

I have been extremely curious about Airsoft, and especially after the death of my Paintball pistol and a lack of spare parts for repairs, I have been researching the sport.

I wanted to ask, what are Airsoft games like in comparison?
I don't mean this as a which is better, etc, question, I'm just curious as to what is different in the sport, and what to expect! Finals are sadly still going for me, so I will not have a chance to try renting at a game anytime soon.

Thank you for your time!

The range, accuracy and general performance of the BBs vs paintballs was the greatest difference I noticed.

Best thing is what you have already mentioned to go to a rental field and try the game for yourself, I did that once and I was hooked.

The start up is higher in airsoft but the upkeep is cheaper than paintball.

The most significant difference is that the money you save from buying bb's instead of laundry detergent.

Also no more stupid speed ball. Hate that shit with a passion with pistol + hopper paintball compared to tacsim in paintball with an actual magazine fed paintball gun.

Some of your gear you will be able to use. I made the transition over from mag-fed paintball. I prefer airsoft. Guns are way more accurate..less maintenance, if you had high end markers then price wont be a big difference, ammo is so cheap its almost a crime. Plenty of upgrades can be done to make your gun better. Guns are more 1 to 1. no more paint on all your kit and car. ( though you will now find bbs in places that will make you go wtf)

People wise I find airsoft to be a good group of guys, which is needed as like paintball you will get guys that shrug off hits. If you lean on a wall you come off not covered in slime. lol. I loved paintball and still do. However i have come to like not putting my kit in plastic bags so i don't kill my car..

Hahaha, yeah, the amount of sludge on my paintball gear is frightening.

Thanks for the replies!
Also, I live in Toronto.

I was curious, are there any outdoor fields for Airsoft in Toronto? If I were to use a Paintball field as a reference, I would say something like PRZ? I was hoping to find something with outdoor stretches, and buildings. Sorry if it is a silly question, I've really only been able to find "Warsoft Nation" in my own research.

Thank you guys a ton!
The help is much appreciated.

We actually play at PRZ, mostly 18 hour events. You will find that airsofters are willing to spend a lot more time and money on real steel gear. At any PRZ event you'll find guys running Gen 3 night vision and the occasional wall hacker that has a thermal.

In my opinion paintball is more of a game/sport where the goal is just to shoot the other guys. Airsoft is more of a role play fashion show that involves shooting people and using your expensive toys.

Toronto has no outdoor fields, though there are plenty in the surrounding areas about an hour outside of the city. Finch's Field is in Rockwood, outside of Guelph. There's also one in Clarington on the East end.

Lots of big games at prz, usually 18-24 hrs+

You can check our siege at midland/sheppard, cqb indoors, they got rentals too.

Also lt winter series, check out the ontario section, indoor school games.

pretty dank.

Ah, okay, that's really cool!
How would one go about finding out about games being hosted at PRZ? I checked through their website, and found no events planned with Airsoft!

Also, are there any fields of locations not designed original for Airsoft, kind of like the videos I seem to be addicted to watching of Airsoft players in Europe?

Thank you for all the help by the way!
I'm definitely excited to try renting somewhere.

PRZ games are usually posted in the Games and Events section on this forum. My team hosts a series of games throughout the winter inside various TCDSB schools. Starting next year, a guy is hosting games out of a former college campus outside of London.
