anyone using GPS?

SO some airsoft fields are in thickish bush adjacent to large tracts of bushland. Since my sense of direction isn't what it used to be... I have been thinking about some kind of GPS maybe mark respawns, parking lots, etc. Is anyone using something now and how well does it work?

I use a Garmin Oregon with topo maps. It also lets you overlay custom maps easily (like game maps with objectives, boundaries and stuff marked on it.)

Its older technology and the UI feels sluggish compared to the ultra responsive screens/GPS apps on today's smartphones (the screen brightness in sunlight also leaves something to be desired); but it runs on AAs, is waterproof and most of the earlier models are discontinued now and can be bought used for fairly cheap. Its also hard (almost impossible?) to get a good topo map for smartphone apps and there's only one good "off road" GPS app I've found to date. So I'm still using the Oregon.

+1 I love doing that back when I was playing airsoft.
If you are willing to have a team invest in Garmin Rino, it would be a great force multiplier.

Our team use many. Most of us have the little Garmin Foretrex, the rest got bigger Garmin with topo maps.

Not only usefull to find your way around, but very usefull to plot routes and make an effective aproach to an objective.

Most games, it won't be usefull, as you navigate with trails and noises of everyone talking and firing. But if you venture in the non paintball fields, it's very handy, if not mandatory.

Heck Troy offers stocks with a GPS preinstalled or with mounting points for one!
