Hellfire 1911 Highcapa review.(from Huang's)

Just got this bad boy shipped in recently so im going to do a smal review to give you some ideas behind the little high capa. please excuse some errors for this my first review. thanks!

Hellfire is a unknown brand that sets itself somewhere between the WE pistol line as a clone of the WE models. Some designs have been altered for some reason but none the less a great addition for people who are getting into GBBs.

WHAT CAME IN THE PACKAGE:

The item got shipped in a plain cardboard box and inside is the high capa, and a co2 gas mag (green gas magazine shipped in its own packaging).
the cardboard box has no foam cutouts or anything to help stabilize the highcapa.

FIRST LOOK:

Upon first look at the item it seemed to be ok. the high capa is full metal, the metal on the highcapa has a weird greyish black color that gives the pistol a nice little look. the pistol contains absolutely No trades which is pretty normal for clones, one interesting note is that this high capa has afull metal lower frame, but unlike the standard high capa this frame seem to resemble a standard 1911 frame. meaning that instead of a polymer pistol grip and a metal receiver held together by a bolt the frame is a full frame and uses standard 1911 grips.

EXTERNALS:

External wise the pistol is ok. Like i said it is full metal but the quality of the metal is standard WE quality metal. trigger and hammer is metal with a functioning metal safety. grips are a cheap set of abs 1911 grips (recommend replacement). One thing i noticed with the high capa is that it's finish is very smooth and does lack a under rail for accessories. Mags are all metal with a greyish finish, fairly sturdy. OH also the gun does not come with a crappy orange tip! so no slashing and hacking!

INTERNALS:

Nothing amazing. the insides are heavily greased (so much that it oozes out)
standard factory grease and re greasing is recommended. the spring and spring guide is standard as well as all the other parts. (all WE quality)
pretty much you everyday WE or clone gas blowback... nothin amazing.
one thing to note that the gas magazine's fill valve/brass fill tube will knock loose after a couple of shots so be sure to put it back in tight!

CHRONO:

co2 mags- around 350-360 fps.

green gas mag- around 310-320 fps

PRICELINE:

black version is 176$ with shipping included

two tone version is 156$ excluding shipping.

TECHNICAL PROBLEMS:

the high capa has a problem where the first trigger press creates no response as if to unlock the mechanism and the second trigger press will fire.

PERFORMANCE UPDATE:

after shooting it the co2 mag held up to around 350 fps and the green gas mag to 310
range is around 75ft. note that when dry firing the high capa will skip a shot when the trigger is pulled, but the problem fixes itself when there are bbs in the chamber

To fill the hellfire magazine, the propane adaptor must be pushed deep and hard into the filling valve of the magazine. Gas spays out if the adaptor is not pushed deep enough.

FINAL VERDICT :

impressed. the gun build and performance are definitely skirmish ready and the included 2 magazines saves you a ton of ching chongs for later. like i said it's not perfect but as a side arm this little baby will last you a long time!
also kudos to Huang at airsoft depot. shipping was quick and service was great!
keep up the good work!

UPDATE: after soem use i noticed wear on both the slide catch and the slide. upon further testing i noticed that the slide catch has a 1/3 posssiblility that it cannot receive and stop the slide. still wondering what i should do for i.. new slide? new slide catch?

Are you sure it's the slide catch, and not the magazine?
Unless the hellfires are doing thing differently, I believe there's a piece on the magazine that will push the slide catch upwards, thus catching the slide. The tension to push the catch upwards is a spring on the magazine, and if the spring is too weak, it might be causing problems.

You can sort of verify this by pushing the slide catch upwards with your thumb, and racking the slide to see if it catches. If it catches every single time, then the problem might not be your slide catch.

Since you have two mags, you could also do a quick test to see if maybe one of the mags works better than the other?

The slide's catch notch should have a completely flat, and perpendicular edge (to the bore of the gun), where it meets with the edge of the slide catch. If it's rounded off or worn in some other way, just take a file to it to put a flat edge back on it.

As with real pistols, it's actually not the best idea to always release the slide by hitting the slide catch button. While it looks really cool in movies, it severely impacts the durability of the slide. You are better off "slingshotting" the slide to release it after you've extracted the empty magazine, or inserted a fresh one. Doing this will prolong the life of the notch, and should be worked in to your muscle memory as regular practice, regardless of whether you're using a real gun, airsoft, pistol, carbine, whatever the case is. The mechanical function is all the same.

Have any tried this pistol with standard tm/kjw/we hi capa mags? Works? Just noticed Huang has the hellfire green gas mags & other brand of hicapa green gas mags on his site so just curious on compatibility.

It should be compatible as almost every hicapa is a TM clone, or at least they try to be.

Any update on this pistol?

I know it has been 2.5 years since the last post but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with it.

It's weird that I can't even find a website for "Hellfire" as a manufacturer, anyone know anything at all about them?
