I would like to clarify whether it will be possible to use firearms for hunting and for airsoft? Or is it also prohibited? Then this is strange enough.

Ban on replica firearms announced in new bill C21
I think majority of Canadians are pussies for not standing hard enough against this. Condemned this condemn that but no balls to actually do something, stop paying taxes and show this fruit Trudeau who is in charge, how about that?

If there is a buy back program does that mean it will apply to airsoft as well?

Definition breakdown and questions regarding Bill C-21 related to Airsoft
Does prohibited mean we can no longer transport recreational-use Airsoft toys to and from a reputable Airsoft field?
Are considerations being made for recreational-use owners who have or will need to own memberships at playing fields / Airsoft events to validate time and date of transport? Can or will prohibited Airsoft items be marked and registered to their specific owner and grandfathered to that owner unless authorized to change ownership via a specific process?

C-21, if passed as it's currently written, would basically mean no more importation, selling, transfer, destruction, losing, purchasing, lending, etc. of airsoft guns. If you are caught with one, it allows police to simply confiscate it unless you can produce evidence that you are permitted to possess it (which there is none). It would not result in criminal offences if you are caught with one as long as you are not using it in the commission of a crime, generally speaking. In essence, you would be allowed only to keep them, and never buy any more that fit the description of "resembling exactly or with near precision" an existing firearm. It's possible that you can transport them to games to use them (though some lawyers believe that may in fact be a transfer, which would result in a criminal charge). The bill has not passed, and is at this point unlikely to pass if the government calls an election this summer/fall. This bill is a shot across the bow for airsoft, the Liberal party is coming after airsoft as we know it, at the behest of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police. All other parties are opposed to that portion of C-21.

The RCMP firearms program will provide a definition for police about what that new definition means, and if a store is caught selling any airsoft gun that falls within the RCMP definition of prohibited firearm then they would be charged with criminal charges. Anyone caught selling airsoft guns within that definition would be at risk of criminal liability. The "transfer" prohibition may apply to transporting your currently owned guns to games, though you'd have to be charged to find out if that's the case. So the bill hasn't yet passed (and is currently nowhere near). Within the bill, there is no consideration whatsoever for people who play airsoft (because they didn't know airsoft existed to the degree that it does). The government has indicated that they do not plan to make any considerations for recreational users of the airsoft guns that we all use for our games. All parties other than the Liberal party have indicated that they would like to make considerations for airsoft in the event that Bill C-21 continues to progress through the legislature.

Something to consider
Corruption amongst federal and municipal employees, those on the take, or turning a blind eye and law enforcement targetting a large majority of voting base for enabling illegal smuggling operations that benefit the criminal underworld is riskier to vet than to make legal and recreational use airguns, real steel owners pay the price
I believe more funding needs to be injected into our ports police and CBSA, increased commercial vehicle inspections and increased surveillance and publicly reported crackdowns on shipments being bound for Canada. We pay a lot of tax and we should accept nothing less than zero tolerance when it comes to cash in hand enablers turning our shopping mall parking lots into the wild west Too many envelopes of hush money for a job well done are being distributed over a Timmies cuppa Joe and it's putting our streets, our lives, our families and friends at risk Last edited by Ratters; August 23rd, 2021 at 15:33.. |
