Safety Gear
I have some questions of safety gear. What do you experienced players think is a good level of protection? In thinking of running low profile Ballistic goggles and a mesh half mask. Any suggestions?

Some fields require paintball approved goggles, so you may want to find out if that applies to you. Many of the players run ballistic goggles, full seal and other. I personally recommend at least ballistic goggles that make a full seal preferably with a thermal lens. It's worth the extra money. I do not recommend mesh goggles as they do not adequately protect from all velocities and bb variations (bio bbs shatter).
A half mesh mask is also pretty standard nowadays as it reduces the chances of shattering teeth. Make sure you find one that you can still get a good purchase with your cheek as this can get annoying fast. Other then that, depending on where you play, gloves and boots with puncture protection may be a worthwhile investment because nothing hurts like having a rusty nail go through your foot. |

Z87.1+ for goggles, and buy them from a reputable company like ESS or wiley-x
You can't sue China if your princess auto shop glasses fail. |

I recommend a mesh mask... The thing pays for itself during your first or second game when you get a burst of 4-5 bbs hitting you right on the mask and if not there, doing some damage to nose, lips, teeth etc. They do affect your cheek weld somewhat but if you get a nice open sight like an EOTECH red dot and a mount riser then you are all set and will have zero issues.

It's all about the anti-fog. Revision desert locust + thermal lens for the win.
Also don't forget knee pads. Case in point (Alta's earned their keep that day):
