Is it okay to purchase AEG metal bodies from retailers outside of Canada?
Hello,
I'm just wondering if it is okay to purchase AEG metal bodies from retailers outside of Canada. I understand that importing anything other than a completely-assembled AEG, such as parts and accessories, should be fine, however I'm not sure about the metal bodies. Could the CBSA mistake them for being "real steel" receivers? I'd like to know soon, as there is a minor crack on the plastic lower receiver of my Classic Army M15A4 Sportline near the trigger, and I wasn't able to find any affordably-priced and in-stock (< $100) M16-type metal bodies from Canadian online airsoft retailers. If it is okay to buy from outside of Canada, would this metal body be fine? http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...oducts_id=5773

They esentially cannot be imported by indeviduals.
The price of a body in the us and a comparable model in Canada will be about the same after duties taxes and shipping |

no, it is not ok, because as an individual, it is prohibited to import a lower receiver, due to the fact that it is the only part that is serialized, which contains the trigger group and parts that makes the rifle go boom, thus highly regulated and limited to only retailers

Oh okay I see, thanks for the responses. I just sent an e-mail to AirsoftDepot.ca to see if they can order this $99 metal body: http://airsoftdepot.ca/catalog/produ...oducts_id=1633
Does anyone here know of any other Canadian online stores that have inexpensive M16/M4-type AEG metal bodies in-stock? I'd love to spend $200 on a high-quality metal body, but I don't have that kind of money.

Im prety sure those 99 doller onez dont exist any more the new versions are the 145 doller ones.
200 is still a relatively cheap metal body (read a made in china with crappy qc and likely needing fitment to work with most gearboxes and frontsets) Or GandP ones and those only take GandP frontsets or have to be rethreaded to fit others but they are in the 200 doller range. When i thint "good metal body" one word comes to mind. HurricanE good luck finding one tho

Seeing how difficult it is to find a cheap metal body for my AEG in Canada, I'm thinking of just fixing the crack that formed on my current plastic body. Here's what the crack looks like (circled in red):
Would some kind of plastic epoxy or glue do the trick? I don't want something that'll also bond to the gearbox underneath, and make taking that out a hassle when it comes time to remove it for whatever reason.

Remove the gearbox then glue then reinstall the gearbox.
Superglue/crazyglue will work best i thinks

I'd use JB Weld on that, will even be stronger than the rest of the body :P

File it down or sand the edges to make a slight gap to fill. Fill it with JB weld. Spread JB weld over area of crack inside and out. Let dry. Sand. Paint receiver. Profit from not buying another receiver.

I was able to get in contact with Airsoft Depot, and they'll have the $99 DBoys M4 metal body in stock at the end of May. I'll just leave my current CA plastic body in its current state until then, and do a body replacement after ordering the metal body.
I now have two questions on AEG disassembly: 1) Is removing the V2 gearbox as easy as shown in this video on a JG M4 S-System? How to- Take you Ver II gearbox out of M4 Gun Body - YouTube 2) Would I need any special tools (like an AR-15 Armorer's Wrench) to properly remove the Classic Army M15 outer barrel from the top receiver?
