MP5 mags Umarex MP5 / Toptech TGM-A5 ?
Hi folks,
My wife's Umarex MP5 (Toptech TGM-A5) came with a hi-cap mag and it works splendidly. I picked up a couple of G&P MP5 midcap mags for her from airsoft parts, but they don't feed very reliably at all and we're looking for other options. Have any owners of this same gun (not other MP5s) tested or tried other compatible mags, and if so, what were your feeding results? I've been looking at the 8-pack of MAG brand mp5 mags on airsoft parts, but I'm unsure if they'll be compatible or not and was hoping to hear some results from actual users before pulling the trigger, so to speak. The G&P ones could have fooled me in terms of dimensions if were to have guessed compatibility, but I guess engineering tolerances aren't so great between brands. Slight mag incompatibilities seem to be a never-ending struggle across my collection of AEGs.. |

I know. It doesn't mean that the Toptech stuff is identical. The gearboxes differ to accommodate the blowback assembly, it's not a stretch to think that the hopup could differ, which could affect mag tolerances.
I'm looking for help with something I don't know... |

Try those MAG mags cause I ran those in a CA mp5 and they fed good. The reason I say CA is because they're the ones that started the "hopup inside the chamber" on the mp5's. G&G just copied it and threw in a blowback thing, since that's the case you may get more compatibility out of them. Or just buy a box of CA mp5 midcaps. You have to realize though that the old G&P's are designed for Marui not our newer generation of guns. But another option you can try is to actually shave down the bb stopper on the top of the mag. It's the thing that stops the bb's from flying out when the mags out of the gun. Just shave it down 0.2 - 0.5mm, what this does is it makes it so your hopup unit doesn't have to go so far in to release the bb's outta the mag.
