Moving to Canada and are there any good sites around Toronto?

I'm moving to Canada / Toronto in the next few months and was wondering if anyone could tell me if there are or point me in the direction of Airsoft clubs around the Toronto area.

I'm used to playing in 'The mall' in Reading and as it sounds its purely cqb and is an old shopping centre turned into an airsoft site!

Also are there any laws regarding airsoft in Canada that I should be aware of?

I currently own two rifles Mauri M4 SYSTEM S and a VFC scar L plus two handguns will there be any issues with me bringing these over? Do I have to get coloured muzzles for them as in the states?

Firstly, welcome to Toronto.

Good news, there are a few places in the downtown area to shoot. TTAC3 at Dupont and Ossington is my favorite. Small place with good shooters and a modular environment.
Second is CQB paintball which has community hosted games outdoors on Queen in the east end.

Now for the bad news. Sell your guns before you leave. They WILL be seized at the border. They are not lillegal to own in Canada, but importation is a very difficult area for newcomers.

Once you are age verified on ASC, you will have access to our retailers and classifieds and can buy whatever you can think of under the sun. Yes airsoft is 2x-3x more expensive than other places in the world, but we have a very solid community.

I see that you need to be age verified in Canada I'm going to assume that this is similar to the VCRA act we have in the UK to control airsoft slaes and ownership.

Would there be an issue once i've moved to Canada and got myself age verified and joined a club to bring my collection over?

Age verification only relates to this site, and accessing the classified section. Not similar to VCRA at all.

You won't be able to bring your guns into Canada, ever. Sell them and buy new guns here.

Being ignorant I'll assume that theres no legal process to follow that might at the end of a long and painful journey allow me to import at 'some point'

Forgive me for going on but the Mauri and the Vfc I'm not to bothered about but the M14...do you know how much they cost?

All parts by all brands are no problem to import with a few exceptions. One half of the receiver is prohibited, and anything that looks like a bullet or grenade cann not be imported. Its not about airsoft specifically. In Canada replica weapons are illegal, and our customs agents interpret that to mean airsoft as replica weapons. I know, its totally screwed up but airsoft is a replica untill it is proven to shoot over 430 fps, at which time it is now an uncontrolled firearm, which is legal. So if it cant hurt its illegal, but if it can anyone can have it without a license. Welcome to Canadian law. Also all of this applies to importation only, not possesion because our custom agency interprets our laws however they feel like and arent really accountable to anyone but themselves. Even upgrading your rifles to shoot over 430 and trying to import them could turn into a year long fight that has no guarantee of success. I spent 9 months trying to get the legal part of a receiver back from customs this year. Hope this clears it up a little for you

Gear and accessories is fine to bring over; BDU's, chestrigs, mags (except ones with faux rounds in them) etc.

Internal parts of your gun are fine to bring over; this includes gears, gearbox, motor, spring etc. (you can even bring in a fully assembled gearbox, but if they seize it for being a "reciever" just ask for secondary inspection by a supervisor or firearms expert).

Externals are a bit iffy. If you really want to keep your gun you'll have to ditch any prohibited parts (namely the lower receiver on the M4 (the part where the real steel counterparts serial number is located)). Everything else is pretty much fine and that includes stocks, handguards, rails, optics, etc.

PS: Hope you're doing alright and keeping your property secure. I heard about the riots in London and how they've spread all the way up to Liverpool. I have friends in Kent and it sounds like it's slowly moving towards Maidstone and towards Canterbury.

PS: Age verification is internal to this site only and has no legal bearing whatsoever. We've basically setup a self governing community of law abiding players as a precaution to try and stop much of the douchebaggery that could happen if everyone (even irresponsible adults) were to get access to airsoft guns.

You don't mention what brand, so no one can answer that question.

As others have said, the bad news is that you won't be able to hold on to your equipment.

The good news is you came to the right place, there are tons of awesome people here on this forum that can help you, and airsoft is quite popular in Toronto with lots of games happening every week. I've only been playing in the Toronto area for a few months and have gotten a crazy warm welcome from the players here, *tons* of help with my gear and any issues I've had, and lots of invites for the next game after, etc.

Getting AV'd on this site as soon as you get into town will help you get settled quickly. You should also be able to find some decent replacements in the buy-and-sell section. Make sure to meet with some local players face-to-face before you rush into buying anything online or on ASC's buy-and-sell section, since there are often guns to be traded/sold at games and I've seen some great deals at games lately, especially on quality gear.

When you've landed, settled, and are ready to play, give the forum a shout!
