Lol, I wish he had written it specifically for me. :P I've seen his other posts with it. Lots of helpful information though.

I was just talking to a buddy of mine. He has a JG "Dragon". I just looked it up and the thing looks like shit, but he says he bought it and never got in to the game so he has it collecting dust. He says it's kind of finicky, the ejector panel flips open by itself, the screw that holds the retractable stock in place comes loose after firing for a while, but mechanically it shoots fine. This gun would never pass for Mil-Sim, so my question is, do most games require mil-sim weapons? He's trying to pawn it off on me for $150. Should I Take it, or leave it?

I just purchased my first AEG 3 weeks ago went with the VFC "Quake" from mach 1 airsoft. All I can say is this gun is amazing even for being a CQB rifle I can still shoot accurately at 100 feet + althought I recommend putting in a upgraded spring which I did. Take a look at VFC's line up of M4's.

5 mags should do you ok for skirmishes as long as you're using anything other then realcaps. If you're using realcaps you're going to want at least 8 and more like 10 or 12.

As to some sort of facemask, face bleeders happen, and chipped teeth are possible, but alot of airsofters take the risk. Almost no one uses hard masks like paintball masks cause they mess with cheek weld but some use soft balaclavas or wraps or such. It's a judgement call on your part.

As to a good charger. I good affordable one that alot of my team including myself uses is the Universal NPT Smart charger. This guy here.

The JG Dragon is just an M4 with an ugly shell. So it is possible with alittle work to make it look like an M4 again. It might be a good backup/loaner but I personally wouldn't count on it for my primary.

(And this one I did write specifically for you. =^_^=)

On the topic of chipped teeth, you might want to invest in a mouth guard of some sort to prevent that kind of thing. Keep in mind that most generic mouth guards protects the top teeth of your set. Though there are some that come with bottom and top guards.

The problem with mouth guards is you can't talk. hard to coordinate tactics when you can't talk. That's the same reason why alot of people don't even bother the balaclavas, hard to talk and be understood in those too.

In the four years I've been playing my group has only had one chipped tooth. Just keep your mouth shut when you're taking fire and you'll be ok.

Okay. So I got the JG "Dragon" for $100 bucks. I'm going to end up getting the CA M15A4 as you suggested Kuro_Neko. I'm still waiting to hear back from Crunchmeister on getting age verified as he's the closest person to me. I'm going to convert the Dragon to a Full M4. Would there be people who could do this for me, as long as I paid for their time, as well as all the parts?

Uh, I would say that the cost of rebuilding the JG dragon to your required aesthetics would probably cost more than the guns worth, IE body handguard ect. You can do it, mind you that it would probably cost you quite a bit and in my opinion it would not be worth it.

Well, I think it's a good exercise to get familiar with taking apart the gun. The cost isn't really an issue. I'm going to, of course, try and do it the most economically friendly way that I can, but I could use it as a back-up/loaner. Time to head over to the mods/upgrades section because I have NO idea where to start. lol.

As everyone else has said get age verified as soon as possible, all these deals are not going anywhere.

But please, don't forget about the importance of eye protection. NEVER skimp on good eye protection, while not as sexy as guns they are all the more important.
what a tease! Looking for full metal m4. Av av av av already.

Glad I could help.

There are indeed people that could do that work for you. But if you went that route, you'd end up paying more then what a new JG M4 would cost. At least $100 for the parts, probably round $60 for the gundoc, and then there's the shipping to the doc and back, probably another $100. If you add in the $100 you paid for the Dragon, that total's $360. You could get a new JG M4 for about $300. But if you do it yourself, especially if you're not in a hurry, you could probably do a decent job for less then $100, maybe even less then $80. Once you get AV'ed, keep an eye on the classifieds for the exterior parts you need available for cheap. Exterior work is pretty easy to do yourself with the help of the internet. The work you really want to be leery of is inside the mechbox.
