How to tell if a gun is a VSR-10 Clone (and compatable with TM parts)
Well I recently acquired a couple of snipers in need of some repairing (I'll be dealing with the L96 in a different thread). I've done well so far with my own AEGs but I'm needing some help with these spring'ers.
For instance, this sniper is I believe just a run of the mill VSR-10 Clone (with a nice custom paint job). However, the piston sear is worn down and in need of replacing. After scouring Canadian sites I was able to find this first and second sear for the TM VSR-10 (if anyone knows where to get just a piston sear in Canada, feel free to tell) from here: http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...roducts_id=650. However, since the owner of this gun has no clue what or where the gun comes from (it was originally his cousin's) I have to somehow confirm for myself just what the heck it is and if it is TM compatible before I start ordering parts. There are no markings on it aside from the regular "warning misuse may result in death; read manual blah blah", and on the butt-plate it says "Made in PRC" (People's Republic of China I'm assuming)" so that at least confirms it is indeed Chinese-made. I did manage to fire off a few shots with it with .28 bbs and it is definitely not your regular Walmart crap-gun, it could definitely handle .30s no problem. Anyways, any advice in the matter is greatly appreciated. PS: Pardon the cruddy pic, my iPhone's camera sucks . |

First of all, snipers are people, they don't need repairing, they need booze and hot wings.
Second of all, that would be an AGM TM VSR10 clone, and since it is a clone, parts will be compatible, and it is highly possible you will need to do some modification for certain parts to fit. Third of all, PDI is the best for VSR10 upgrades, and you can get the parts for much cheaper here since the CAD is worth more than the JPY, and PDI also offers to mark down the price on the manifest so you won't have to pay enormous duties and taxes... but you still need to pay the full price

That isn't a VSR at all, actually.
Its a M234 rifle from UTG, Which uses propietary parts as far as I know. You'd be better off just trashing it. Trust me. |

Haha, well this doesn't help me, is it an AGM or a UTG?

By the way, I have torn it apart, and the trigger assembly seems to look mighty similar to the pics if looked at of the VSR-10's. But then I haven't had any experience yet with VSRs.

Upon an actual inspection of the thumbnail, Strelok appears to be right... The body doesn't appear to be a VSR.

Give a google search and find out dude, take the information you get and do a bit of research.
Gives you answers quicker and saves people like me for doing that work for you . Its a UTG M234, no doubt about it. It looks like an APS-2 but UTG made their own little internal system which is kinda fucked up. Like I said, its proprietary stuff. UTG has released their own little upgrade kits for them but i'm unsure if they cover sears. Maybe, maybe not. |

I've said this before, if it's a "CLONE" that means it's a "COPY" OFthe "ORIGINAL", which means parts will be compatible.
So no, since it isn't a TSD/AGM clone of TM VSR10s, parts not compatible, or at least not entirely Don't mean to sound like an ass, but questions like these come up daily (at least a site where I frequent state-side). Usually along the lines of "I know it's a copy, but will it be compatible?" "Copy=almost same as original" "Yeah, but are the parts compatible?" >mfw

Sorry I should have quoted there; in response to THIS post that the sniper in question is NOT a VSR clone I asked "So no TM upgrades?". I fully understand how the whole clone system works lol, but if its not a clone, then no compatibility.
