Why are the velocity reducers that screw onto the muzzle of a gun banned on most fields?

Because they have been proven to not work when shooting full auto. It will slow down the first BB but the following BB's instantly jump up in fps.

That inconsistency, even if you say you'll only shoot semi, is an issue for field owners as your gun can exceed the limit set by their insurance.

I have often wondered if this would still apply if you had a gun that only shoots semi or is a BA. If its not capable of shooting full auto what would the harm in them be?

Because basically they suck and don't work a lot of the time.
They can also wear out at any point.

AFAIK people are either too lazy to swap the spring or too cheap to send it to a gundoc to be done correctly.

Why do all that if they can slap on a reducer that could fail and cause significant injury to their fellow players. [sarcasm]We all know sub 350fps can cause damage already. I'll just slap a reducer on cause it says it will lower my high fps gun. No one will know the difference. [/sarcasm]

I was thinking of fielding a GBB, so the muzzle velocity reducer would have been cheaper and easier than downgrading it.
