M16A2 Metal Hop Up Installation
I am trying to install my new metal hop up unit into my M16, and I have hit a little bit of a snag. I know I have to take out the piece where the BB's would enter from the mag but there is a plastic piece the come out of the gear box that gets in the way of folding the gun back down.
Do I have to take that piece out of the gear box? or do I have to put the metal Hop Up over top of that plastic piece? or any other way to get it together. The Gun I have is http://www.torontoairsoft.com/produc...id_product=472 The Hop Up Unit is http://www.torontoairsoft.com/product.php?id_product=78 Please help |

If your Armalite based AEG originally started off with a two piece hopup you will require to remove some material from the lower receiver before you can use a one piece hopup.
Once you the appropriate amount of material has been removed you place the hopup with barrel into the upper and depending on the style of your receiver; either slide the upper onto the lower or install it as per how you normally would put a two piece tabbed receiver back together. Now which plastic piece are you referring to that protrudes out of your mechbox? Would that be the air nozzle? Would you be able to provide a picture for reference?

You need to cut some plastic with a dremel tool.
See this picture (Not mine) : If you're careful, you will be able to put back the 2-piece hopup. If I may however, I would recommend you pick a better hopup like a Promy, etc. Check Airsoftparts when it's back online.

You need to remove the stock and buffer tube.
Then, remove the pistol grip. Push out the pin in the middle Remove Magcatch Put selector switch on Semi. Lift up the GB abit and should give you enough room to remove the feeding port. Remove the GB completely in order to mod the lower receiver though. Reference : http://www.mechbox.com/m4m16/m733-disassembly.html

Hey mate.
If you're coming to the June 20th game at TFS me and/or a buddy can give you a hand with installing the new unit, I'll be getting a hand with my STG (M4 style) hopup that day as well. Cheers!

I suppose I could do that I just want it together now so I can play with it, both me and my dad are looking at it so if we don't succeed I guess that would be my last option

You need to mod the lower receiver like shown in the picture I posted above. The hopup stays with the inner barrel and the upper receiver. It's harder to close the upper with the lower, but if you're careful, should be alright.
