Green sniper Question

DOH I put this in the wrong section....

Hey guys I have been playing now for about a year and have descided to get my self a sniper rifle. I got one on order if my kit does not sell/trade before it gets here.

Anyways the gun I have on order is a little bit different than what most people have. Swiss arms SA1. I have read that its a great gun out of the box and there are some upgrades for it.

But issue is it does not come with 2 things, one being a scope. Its got rails on it for mounting one though so thats not an issue. Now what kind of magnification should I be looking for? I normaly play in bush but we do have a CQBish field out here with areas for sniping. I would love to get something low prowfile but I also want it to be confortable.

Have any of you tried the scopes from ehobbyasia/ebaybanned? Any recommendations or tips would be much appreciated.

Secondly it does not come with a bipod or a mount for that matter. Now I have talked to some snipers who say these are just cumbersome and normaly never get deployed. If thats true I am not going to worry about it... have any of you had experience in this area? I can see where a Bipod would increase your silloeute *sp* against the skyline/area that your in.

I am using a ghillie suite and have been practicing with it for a while. Field movment and what not before I get my sniper, Just put my AK in single fire and used that heh. But do you have any tips on movment and what have you found to be succesfull uses for camo/ghillie suites.

Neways sorry tahts three questions I Know don't hurt me. Thanks in advance for your responses.

First, don't expect much out of this rifle you bought. It's a cheap toy. even if you upgrade it, I'm sure it will not have the performances of a cheap stock AEG.

Before you plan on buying and play, I suggest you read a lot. Especially if you plan on playing as a sniper.

I suggest you get age verified. If you are 18+, you will have access to the classified and see for yourself what people generally play with and make your budjet in accordance.

Sorry for brigning you bad news. If you can, cancel your order.
Then, check out for an AEG from a good brand and get yourself a basic kit to play in.

If your doing CQB distances with a sniper rifle, I'd suggest just a simple 1x red dot, or a 2-6x scope if you really want the zoom.
I engage at the full range of my rifle and it's rare I go past 3x unless I'm looking for someone special
And having a bipod is really up to you, I've considered it, but for the amount I'm prone or even in a position to use one, it's really not worth carrying the extra weight around.

Don't get that gun unless you wanna invest3-4 x it's initial cost in upgrades before you can game it effectively. Go straight for TM to minimize the required upgrades.
And and FYI playing a sniper aint "BOOM Head shot, click click, BOOM Head shot" it's more of lye still for an hour and maybe get 1-5 kills a game and lots of recon, just incase you've been mislead as to what sniping in airsoft is.

First I must say F U Wm6.1... I had a post written up and just as I hit send the damn window closes....

Neways at home now.

Yah I 100% understand that snipers in airsoft are very low bag count "classes". I am not expecting a ton of kills, nor do I want that. I find the hunt more thrilling, the waiting, the watching.... the them not knowing. Or the them knowing and me figuring out what to do from that point.

anyways you guys have all told me to *not get that gun* but why? whats the difference between that than say a well L96? What should I really look for in a sniper rifle. I am considering a KJm700 Gas sniper. Our field limit here for snipers is 500fps on .20 I know its not a target but I know the m700 can hit that easily.

I am not planning on fielding my sniper until next season. Until that point I will be working on upgrades, reading every thing I can get my hot little hands on, and making ghillie suites. I already have a premade one but I can see already some areas on it that need improving.

neways thanks in advance again.

edit* Tm snipers are hard to come by and From what I have read TM is not the leader in the sniper catagory. Maybe the PSG-1 but those are few and far between.

Now for some real info for you:

There's a CA M24 for sale in the classifieds (Bean I think), around $600, would be a great one for you (I got mine a year before I got an AEG, and it still rides on my back 90% of the time when I play). I also have a KJW M700, nice rifle, stock is similar to the M24 in places, such as the grip. It being gas though means it'll be somewhat unpredictble at times, depending on the weather, and such. It is adjustable for gas flow, isn't theh easiest thing to do, have to take the bolt apart with tools and tighten/loosen the striker spring guide to adjust. And the mags need the feed lips filed to make the stripping of a BB off smoother and get rid of the chances of cutting the surface. Mags only hold 10 rounds, but the Tanaka 700 29rd mags work too.

Scope, just get a 3-9x 40 scope, any hunting store for a decent price. Is the only scope I'd recommend for a sniper rifle, is way too flexible to consider any other type. I mostly have mine set for 5x, 3x is handy for increasing the field of view (FOV), and 9x is great for zooming in to try to ID a target, or if you are on overwatch way out of shooting range, helps you radio intel to your team mates.

Bipod, is optional, I mostly have mine on just because it's more useful than a hindrance. It allows you a basic stand to keep your gun off the ground for starters. It helps when shooting off horizontal places like drums, car hoods, or bench resting when testing for accuracy/consistancy outside of game time. Has the added benefit of allowing you a stable shot using any vertical surface (tree, door jam, support beam) by extending one leg and holding it in your support hand as your hand holds the surface.

And you've seen the myths of airsoft sniping above. An airsoft sniper can do anything he/she wants for the role, can stay in one place for hours and maybe take a single shot, or can be on the move and taking shots of opportunity. I have done and always do a combination of things, depending on the situation and the mission. Twice this year I played in urban areas (paintball field), and both times I used my M24 and my GBBs full time during the game, even though I had my MP5 with me most of the time (it never got shot). And I racked up a good dozen or more kills just by tactics and being able to slip one shot in on guys that'd hide when they saw a stream of BBs fly at them. Being a skilled airsoft sniper is a serious rush and a challenge, it's addictive. If sniping was banned in airsoft, I can't say honestly I'd continue in the sport, even though I have two MP5s and a decent assortment of GBBs........................

Hmm good info. And yes I know what a rush it can be. As I said I put my AK on single shot just to see if I liked the play style of sit and wait/move when you can. I had 2 members of the opposite team walking right towards me while I was on the ground in a ghillie suite... they had no idea where I was and pop pop both down before either knew what happened. End of the game they asked me *where were you hiding?* I said *what? you didn't seem me right infront of you?* hehe.

Neways So your saying a spring will be more consistant... well that makes sence. How ever it seems like gas requires less upgrades to get more fps. I do like the looks of the CA m24. Hmmm....

I don't want to break the bank on this change over. And really the only way I will be able to go for something high end is to sell my kit, but its been up for 2 weeks and not even one nibble on it yet wrong time of year I guess.

Do any of you have any experience with the PSG-1? I know its basicly a single shot AEG out of the box, but what kind of mech box is actually in it?

PS. I am aware of the m76 in classifides... but I don't think taking out a small loan to buy a toy would please the GF lmao..... maybe I could sell my truck.

FPS Doesn't mean anything remember that. Someone, I think it's CDN Stalker or Amos runs their sniper rifle at under 400 FPS.

The name of the game is consistency, accuracy, and precision.

I play single shot with my AEG although I don't think I'm cut out to be a sniper (DMR at the most).

Also dude... you need to sell your stuff just before the season starts. Things sold then for some reason seem to move faster (I guess because of Christmas bonuses, and people wanting something new to play with next season or whatever).

The PSG-1 is a V4 gearbox.

I'm the one running the 400fps rifle all year, and with 0.36g BBs I'm getting better consistancy with good range than I had in previous years shooting 500fps, BBs become much more unstable at higher velocities (higher fps means faster backspin) with hop up than its really worth from my experience and testing.

And the TM PSG-1 is a POS unless you dump a shitload of upgrades into it. Then it becomes 'Ok'. Avoid it, waste of money.

The TM VSR-10 is also an amazing upgrade platform The hop-up unit is fantastic out of the box.

For my first year of sniping I left my TM VSR-10 bone stock, this made me get use to being sneaky enough to get close so I can make be sure that I can make the shot.

Recently I'm turned away from bolt action sniping and gone to AEG "marksman-ing" The field that I normally play it isn't very good for snipers (basically CQB distances in thick bush) so the AEG suites that place well

Shit, for some reason, when I posted, the tag was not there. I see it fine now. Sorry about that.

Well, forget what I said about AVing then. But the rest still stand: sniper rifle must be quality or forget it.

I got a buddy in Van that I am trying to talk into sending me his rifle for a few weeks. I really want to try before I buy but can't seem to find someone down here that will lol. Understandable as there is alot of money involved in these.

Thanks for all of your guys's info. Its been a great help. Sorry if I sounded like a noob
