Who makes a V3 complete gearbox?
As the title implies I'm just wondering who makes complete V3 gearboxes.
I guess what I want is something similar to the "SystemA complete Mechabox" maybe one of those SystemA Revolution ones but a V3 version. From there I'm looking at redwolf right now and it seems that there are some companies that make complete V3 gearboxes but I'm not sure of the quality of them, although I'm looking up reviews as I'm posting right now. For the most part all V3 gearboxes on redwolf are just the shell (or reinforced shell). I don't really want to source out separate high quality parts and slap them together and pray to god that it works as has been discussed in my other thread so I would prefer something direct from the factory that I can just "set it and forget it". G2G right now but if there are any other questions that need answered before you guys can suggest me a good complete gearbox they will be answered later.

JG, DBoys, action.... and that's all I could find on general retailers. You can probably source stuff like replacement mechboxes for TMs, G&Ps, and ect. straight from the manufacturer.

Mmm... I wouldn't go for the Action mechboxes personally... They're an assortment of ACM parts pieced together, and if I recall; from the various videos and internet posts on the internals, there are so many different bits that are changed frequently in the mechbox.... I think the last ones I saw used XYT gears, some other one used coal-black gears, and the sector gear in that version was basically a small ring for the axle, and connected by a few metal bits to a big ring, which was the basis for the gear teeth. If I also recall on that one the 8mm bearings were loose enough that they shook slightly in the mechbox shell sockets, and would fall out of their own accord.
But then again I've seen some people who have said certain parts of action mechboxes were good. Last edited by yuhaoyang; August 24th, 2009 at 23:29.. |

See that's what I'm talking about. The only complete V3 gearbox that I can find is the Action branded one. I would really want to go for more reliable, well known brand names such as Deep Fire, G&P, SystemA (if only they made V3 gearboxes...), HurricanE, etc. However I guess if it comes down to it I might have to assemble a V3 gearbox out of a bunch of random parts and hope for the best.

I think that assembling it yourself usually leads to a much better result...
You can always go for a modify cylinder set+modular gears and sector clip in a KA mechbox, and a modify tappet. and use various other bits from modify and whatever else you want? |

My JG is still going strong 3 years later. (drop in mechbox with upgraded spring and sorbo)
It was shimmed too so It wasn't really "dropped in" I guess but all the parts are holding up well. |
