TM MEU trigger problem
Hey there, I recently got a BNIB Tokyo Marui MEU.
I can't recall if everything fired 100% perfectly when I got it... because 10 minutes into receiving the gun I had it torn down for a cleaning/re-lube/upgrading. DSCF7018.flv video by AmosEverglade - Photobucket This is a video of what it's doing, I was taking my finger out of the trigger guard each time to illustrate the trigger pull a little more clearly. It may be a re-assembly problem as I had everything taken down pretty much as far as it could go before re-assembling it. When I first took it down I lost part #GM4-49 (Little spring on the disconnecter {Part GM4-48}) and replaced it with one from a TM 1911 Here's a list of the upgrades that it has: Airsoft Surgeon Ultra light Blow Back Unit (machined to fit MEU rear sight) Airsoft Surgeon Hard Loading nozzle Firefly bearing Spring guide Firefly Lightweight Metal Floating Valve Stock Recoil Spring Guarder 150% Hammer Spring Anyone have any ideas? This is my first 1911 and the first 1911 style gun I've worked on... sooo I'm still learning. |

Did you touch the sear spring at all?
Is the trigger pull smooth or restrictive?

I think the 3 pronge leaf spring is not seated properly, maybe bent....

had the same problem with my 1911, take the leaf spring out and bend it forward at the prong that pushes on the sear

Three things to check, and I'd check them in this order to save extra work.
1- Check the over-travel screw in the trigger itself. If it is turned in just a little too far this can happen.Take it completely out and see if that solves the problem, Then put it back in with loctight and set it so there is still a bit of overtravel. 2- The sear spring mentioned above. 3-You may need to check out the trigger/linkage. It may have been slightly bent where it attaches to the trigger, when it was removed/installed. If it is bent ever so slightly it can be tight in the lower frame. Take it apart and see if the trigger mech slides in & out freely. it should fall right out the back if you tip it up. You may need to bend the trigger left or right , up or down. You should be able to see where it's tight if this is the problem. Hope this helps. |

Is the "Over-travel" screw GM4-67? As well as the linkage being GM4-69? If the screw is GM4-67 I don't know if it's adjustable in the MEU, I can't seem to find a metric or imperial allen key that will actually turn it.. (perhaps I just haven't been trying to turn it enough?) What exactly does this over travel screw do and what do I look for when adjusting it? (Lol I kinda like when guns I'm not experienced with break... When I fix them I end up quite familiar with the design lol) |

the spring on the right is supposed to bend forward, not backward
sorry i said sear spring before, i meant sear disconnector spring, the far right from that angle, bend it forward |

well, when i got mine to work, it was bending at about 20 degrees forward, maybe your issue is different from what i had, but that video was exactly what mine did, dont know what else i can say, either way, more spring pressure wont hurt it

All right I'll go look at a couple pictures of these leaf spring to see the different positions they're supposed to be in.

also, add some lube around where the spring touches the sear connector, that also may be sticking, the issue mine had was that the connector wouldnt move because the spring couldnt push it up, either because of spring fatigue, or excessive friction, so i bent the spring forward to compensate the loss of tension, and that worked, then i regreased the whole thing for good measure, worked like a charm
Hope you get yours working too, MEUs are the shit ;p |

Yup looks like that worked
I guess when I had everything tossed in zip-lock bags the leaf-spring was bent backwards a little too far. My trigger pull is 10X stiffer now though ... Oh well, I'll take a stiff trigger pull over a mis-firing gun any day Now I'm gonna go delete all those pictures on my photobucket because I'm reaching maximum bandwidth lol |

Cheers,
I've had my eye on the shooter's deisng light weight one anyways If it keeps bending out of shape I'll just get the SD one I'm pretty sure that screw on the MEU isn't adjustable... no allen key metric or imperial would fit |

That "adjustable screw" on the TM trigger is a dummy. It can't actually move, and it doesn't even go through. Sorta stupid, if you ask me - but I suppose it dummy proofs the pistol.
