Lipo 15c question

I'm running a 8.4 1100 battery atm because that's literally all that can fit in my stock sig 552. I finally found a lipo that fits. Its made by king arms - its a 11.1 1100 mah battery found here http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...oducts_id=1338 .
I'm running an m120 spring. According to a few friends of mine its a very bad idea to run a lipo of only 15c with an m120 spring. I plan to add a cut off and a lipo circuit either way and I'll have a second battery on standby.

My question is simple, will this setup give me a much better rate of fire or am I better of keeping the 8.4? The 15c rate is very low for a lipo so I'm on the fence.

I don't have much experience with lipo's, but I was under the impression that 15C really is still pretty good for airsoft. It can output pretty good peak currents still. Especially considering its 3S (11.1V). I think it should still be perfectly fine. Its relative rate of fire I cannot comment on, but I would wager it to be better due to the higher voltage.

11.1v 15C is like a 9.6Large battery... so you'll be fine in terms of being able to keep up... the problem arises in that 11.1v is a LOT of juice, and I find them overkill for stock gearboxes.

Overkill in what way? I have a fully upgraded upper and lower gearbox and a reinforced v3). I was going to install 16a wiring and deans so it should be covered right? my 8.4 rof with a m120 is garbage so.... am I missing something?

The ROF will be similar to a full charged large 8.4v 3600mAh NiMh battery. A bit "peppier". Not a fast as a large 9.6v pack, but about the same as a small 9.6v pack.

So if your mechbox can survive those batteries...it'll be fine.

BUT...careful of long sustained strings of full auto with a "little" lipo like that. They can get very hot as they discharge. Short 5-10 shot bursts are fine. Near unlimited semi has been fine.

I had a runaway mechbox shoot approx 1000 rounds full auto while hooked up on that battery. The mechbox was fine...the wiring/motor were hot (as they would be anyways with any battery)...but the battery was really, really hot. Hot enough to the touch to think, "WOW...that's not right". The pack seemed fine, but I wouldn't do that again on purpose.

It's a good batt and tucks away in the smallest of places. Just use your head.
