KA FAL Scope Mount
Hello all,
This is my first post, so thanks to all of you here in the forums for having me and for lending a hand. I have a KA FAL Tactical Carbine and have recently bought the KA Scope Mount Base for the gun. I have seen many threads saying that people had a hard time installing them, but no directions. Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks in advance, |

There's a youtube vid on disassembling the KA FAL (all their FALs are the same). It's a bit of a pain if you take the mechbox out...but if you're just going to the point where you can swap out the dust covers it's not too bad.
Where are you located? It'd be a lot easier to show you vs. trying to type it out. |

I'm a Yankee
Unfortuantely, I'm in northern New York, USA so I'm none to close (On a side note, my father was originally from Bathurst, New Brunswick).
I came to this forum because it seems like the KA FAL is a lot more popular in Canada. I would guess because of the C1 lineage. I couldn't find the disassembly video, but I'll look again. Any typed instructions would be helpful as well. All I have right now is the exploded view diagram that came with the rifle and it's not much help. Thanks a lot. Regards, B. Miller |

From memory...so it might not be 100%...
1. take off grip - 2 grip base screws - don't loose the little disk - detach motor (note which one is +ve and if it's forward or backwards) - undo two screws inside grip that hold the grip to the mechbox - pull grip straight off...watch wires, note which hole (furthest forward) they go through 2. take off stock - take off butt plate - Loooong screw driver (philips) to reach into stock to remove screw - flat head screwdriver to remove little screw on tang - gently pull stock back and down...detach mini connector when you can get at it - put stock aside 3. Remove allen screw (just above the hole that the wiring for the stock goes through 3b. Forgot...pop the little plastic cover off the selector lever...undo little philips screw and take the selector off. 3c. Forgor more...in the magwell...undo the philips screw and remove the coverplate. You'll have to tilt it, move it and then twist it to get it out....it's easy when you're actually holding it. Don't force anything. 4. At this point the lower receiver should be able to tilt down and away from the upper receiver...might need to wiggle/jiggle it. NOTE: There are two semi-circle gears on either side of the mechbox. And a little lever/nub thing that goes with the selector plate and the gear on that side. These will fall off if you don't hold them in position. As you're doing step 4...look for those gears, their orientation and hold them in place. 5. Now you should be able to slide the dust cover, bolt and spring guide straight back off the upper receiver. Reverse to reassemble. Dropping the gears will get you...go slow. While you have the bolt/spring/dust cover off...take a close look at how the wiring is routed around the mechbox. Good luck... BTW. I've always found the screw on the KA RIS cover to be too short. I usually sub in another screw that's longer. Without a longer screw it won't push down on the spring guide block and the RIS will slide forward and back about 1mm. |

Thanks
Thanks a lot. That will be a huge help.
I thought it would be less involved than that, but I will manage. You would think they would make it easier to mount a simple scope rail. If you think of anything else, let me know. Best Regards, B. Miller P.S. While I've got your attention, what kind of piston material does this have stock? Is it polycarb? I'm asking because I want to know how large of a spring upgrade I can make with only replacing the nozzle and spring guide... M120? One more thing: How long is the inner barrel on the tactical carbine? I'm thinking about a new Madbull. Thanks again... |

is it a little disk with a arm and a post? If so, that's the disk that goes with the gear and the selector plate.

Nope, its actually about the size of a 10 cent piece with a hole in the middle. It's made out of black metal. I cant find anything it would have come off of on the outside of the gear box. Any ideas?
