L96 Sniper Rifle
Hey everyone, this is kinda a different type of post...
I'm looking to put together a bolt-action paintball gun in the form of a L96 sniper rifle that will use the First Strike rounds and was wondering how I would be able to get ahold of just the body of an L96 airsoft rifle. I have no use for the entire gun and internals, it would be a waste moola. Would I need to be age verified to do this, or are there online stores in which airsoft bodies are sold? Thanks for the help and I apologize in advance if this post in inappropriate or breaking the rules in any way. Last edited by InBlack; December 30th, 2009 at 02:12.. |

If you're looking for just the stock, receiver and outer barrel I think you're better off buying a full rifle. The only parts I've seen sold separately are the receiver and outer barrel made of Duralmin. The outer barrel and receiver alone would cost about the same as a full rifle if not more.
As for the stock, there are RS stocks for sale like these: linky. They're designed to modify the Remington 700. |

Thanks, great link!
Those are some really nice shrouds and stocks there but the prices will make my project a little too much money, and I will be modifying the shroud even more when I get it. It looks like I'll be better off just buying the entire gun new or used. If used, I'll have to get age verified, yes?

Actaully, 1 last quick question, I'm pretty sure I know the answer already but if I purchased an airsoft shroud thru ebay and shipped it from US to Canada, is that illegal. I've heard that guns are illegal but parts are not?

A full gun for sure will get seized and destroyed at the border. As for parts, it depends on what parts you try to import. Some are prohibited (e.g. receivers, magazines with fake rounds, grenades, suppressors etc.)
Here are a few good reads: linky 1 linky 2 linky 3 Most, if not all internals for airsoft guns are allowed in. It's mostly the externals (receivers etc.) that have problems. Quote from FAQ: Quote:

In your case, I'd advise you look at US site, ask around if one of them has a broken riffle and ask the to strip the gun and just send the stock over. If you play your cards right, this might not be too costly.

Looks like the shroud/stock would be illegal and seized then. Thanks again!

Actually, only the receiver is restricted.
On an OD model, scrap everything that is back, keep the green. |

All I would need is this, the circled red areas I do not need:

Yea, that's just the stock. Surebet gave a really good suggestion. It would be cheaper if you find a broken gun and get the stock from it. I'll keep my eyes out for one and post here if I find anything.

Well, there you go, the stock isn't restricted so go crazy. Just insist that the seller removes the receiver and barrel.
This is just a suggestion, if you feel more safe to order in country by all means do so. There is the odd busted L96 that comes by the classifieds from time to time, so that's a valid strategy too. |
