Battery suggestion
I recently just bought a tokyo marui mp5 from the classifieds... it didnt came with a battery so I kinda need help choosing one...
Originally, I was plaining to buy a 8.4v mini because it uses mini tamiya connector but after reading and searching dean connectors are the way to go. Now the mp5 has been upgraded to 350fps and has a full stock which can fit a large battery as well... So.. would a 9.6v large be overkill? or a 8.4v large would suit better? And ya.. I just started out airsoft, dont flame mee. Last edited by Eien; December 28th, 2009 at 02:17.. |

There's no overkill for simple batteries such as nimh and nicad. The only overkill batteries would be using lipos 11.1V (which discharges way too much current and power for the motor for the gearbox to support....such as spinning so fast the gears)
So basically, i would go with the 9.6V battery, especially for an Mp5. Your rate of fire will be pretty good.

My buddies wife has the TM mp5a4 and I have the ICS. My 9.6 wont fit in her gun. Maybe its just these two but the TM seems to have another inch of plastic at the front of it stopping the fit. Atleast that's the difference between ours.
The 8.4's are a good choice though. Never had an issue with them so long as they are good cells.

I'm assuming the gun is rear wired? From what you're saying the full stock was added as an upgrade. Well, my mp5 full stock is running on a large 9.6V for a while now. Shooting 350 fps as well, I get about 17bps. I've only shot about 1.5k through so far but she's still going strong.

My daughter runs a 9.6v nimh mini in her TM MP5A5 in the forend. No issues with fitment and no modifications were made for it to fit. Gun's bone stock other than metal bushings and a shim job.

A 9.6v large will have a higher ROF than a 9.6v mini
I'd say the 9.6v large is overkill, you might want to consider an 8.4v large or a 9.6v mini |

A 9.6v large will not fit in an MP5 fullstock. Maybe if the last cell is standed up on end, but in a normal pack configuration it will not.
