I know everyone loves the elite, but does anyone even own a TASC? I'd really like to hear something about it....

Not sure about the Elite as I don't have one, but from the looks of the design, I'd say it probably "breathes" better while wearing than the rubber "suction cup" of the TASC variety. Also, not entirely sure of the durability/water-resistance of either of them however.

I have a genuine Devgru TASC headset which is can be quite hard to find nowadays as it's primarily sold to LE and other "pros", thus it is extremely durable and completely waterproof...not that I'd go swimming with it as was the mission of the original "swimmer" TASC headset. However, the large rubber earcup once sealed over your ear will significantly attenuate your hearing on that side which can be a problem, and it's also a sweat magnet so it can get somewhat uncomfortable to wear on hot days. Apart from that, the audio performance is outstanding and I wouldn't trade mine for double or triple the price.

As for Cavalvy brand headsets...well, they're popular around here so either of them should do just fine for your needs. Or, you could go with a decent Peltor ComTAC II clone, unless you have loads-o-cash in which case why not go for the real deal.

Why would you buy a rubber disc that you stick to your ear, that makes you deaf in that ear and makes you sweat?

Get the Elite II.

And has anybody tried the IASUS NT3 black ops 2 yet?
I have the original NT3 black ops, but the wire connecting to the mic started to shred just outside the transponder housing so I'm completely incoherent, AND the speaker stopped working...
I was considering getting a sniper pro as well... they still make them so they have to be good lol

Peltor Comtacs II clones are horrible. After about 2 hours your ears will start to hurt. The sound amplifier is very low. I played with these on a night game, and guys whisper when you can't hear shit around you unless it's loud, or is it not meant to be used in night games? They're nice for show, but for long game use, it's not.

Cavalvys are excellent.

My hearing is perfect as is, anything between my ear and noise would just be detrimental.
I really like the IASUS earpieces, if you need to listen to your surroundings, you can take it out and let it dangle by your ear and still hear radio comms. And it didn't bother me through coldfront.
I'm just hoping the black ops 2 is better. They embedded the stupid transponder linking wire IN the silicone. What killed mine is the damn wire kept moving around because it was outside the silicone and it broke.

The devgru Tasc headset is a replica and not genuine, the real deal is made by TCI. Replica peltors are a no go too. If you want real sound amplification buy the real thing, Liberators, sordins, and comtacs. If you dont wanna fork out the cash then your best bet for wearability and comfort would be the bowman replicas. Although most real deals have a dynamic mic and unless you have a real mbitr you wont be able to use them unless you get a proper PTT with the right impedance match to your radio. even better is to get a real bowman. there not that expensive and easy to rewire to your need ( and dont have a low impedance mic so your good to go for most civi radios ). In fact my bowmans were cheaper than the replicas.

You can get them for cheaper than that if you look around.
I got a genuine Cavalvy Elite II and a PTT for about $50.

I've got a knock-off Comtac II from Huang and I'm quite happy with its performance; clear communications with the other guy's radios, and nice amplification... no one's snuck up on me yet!

Yes, I know Devgru are not the original manufacturer of the TASC-type of headset, but you'll note that I didn't say "genuine TCI" either. That said, IMHO the Devgru version is a step above in both quality and durability over the other pretenders available on the market. Headsets are very much a personal thing, much like a good pair of boots. No two brands are really the same despite their common purpose. But if a particular pair are comfortable and do the job, then they are the right ones for you provided they're also within your price range.

Caveat emptor...
