KSC MK23 Socom GBB: Anyone have experience with this?

I'm looking to pick one up for myself for a Metal Gear Solid setup.
I will need it for some footage otherwise the Marui NBB would do.

Anybody here have experience with it, comments?

Share your experiences please.

Thanks.

It's a beast of a gun, but pretty worthless without the metal slide/hi-flow valve upgrade. Also, mags are a bitch to find. I sold mine ages ago because of these issues. Although, it sounds like you want it more for the looks and blowback rather than gaming or performance, so the KSC might be right up your alley. Also, there tends to be a few kicking around on the classifieds, and they tend to be pre-upgraded or babied by collectors.

Ya I have one. I would say it's a pretty nice gun, great weight to it, mine was a Pre 2005 version, dont really know what the differences are. Shoots pretty good, I repaired the Hop Up unit. It's just a massive gun. But I prefer you get a metal slide and a upgrade spring. The hammer is kinda wobbly, dont know why exactly, I read that it's normal. I like the KSC version because it actually looks more realistic then the Marui one, in terms of blow back and the slide actually reads " HK MK23 USSOCOM...etc". It's hard to find a LAM unit for one of these, unless you get a Marui Lam Unit. You also cant find a rail for these too, so you cant attach your standard laser/flashlight on it. Other then that, this gun is amazing. =D. The safety is also ambidextrous, and it's works better then the USP version. Decocker is nice too.

Yeah I got a Marui MK23 on the way too, going to strip the LAM and Silencer from it for the KSC MK23 lol

My only bugger now is finding the metal slide, valve kit =/

I had the USP tactical with metal slide. A bit smaller than the MK23, but still a huge pistol.

It was a sluggish pistol to shoot. The heavy slide was nice, but the recoil was slow and heavy.

I prefer my NBB MK23. Still a sluggish gun to shoot due to the long trigger pull. But it's effectiveness outshine it's drawbacks. Not to mention it's super silent with the supressor on. All you hear is the heavy 0.30g BB smaking it's target.

Yeah I've considered the full-size USP for myself as well but KSC is currently sold out of all their new System 7 Taiwan stuff and they are currently making more, I guess they didn't expect the new line to go so well.

The MK23 is for film purposes, otherwise I would not really bother with it at all.
I'm just worried about it breaking on me lol why else would it be discontinued :P

I've had the KSC pre-2005 MK23 a few years and loved it, could actually run it in silent mode like the NBB by firing it on double action with the suppressor, mine musta been a fluke but I loved it that way. Just have to rack the slide for every shot because it wouldn't load another round or cock the hammer. It's black and shiney, not overly heavy and has sluggish slide recoil.

A month and a bit ago I bought an upgraded 2005 HW with Shooters Design metal slide kit and upgraded recoil spring, it's a freaking beast, real hard and fast kick with a nice metal clank. And the frame is the same material as the KSC G19, dull metallic gray colour with a lot of weight to it. I installed my tightbore from my previous one into it, and it's a kick ass pistol.

With both it's easy to get 150ft with a 0.30g BB, relatively accuractely. Hi flow valve isn't required on the mag with the metal slide. Also, as seen above, the hammer is a bit wobbly, but even the real HK MK23 has that.

This is what mine looks like with the 2005 frame and metal slide (And this is likely what you want to get):

Holsters can be a real pain to find though, not just because of the size and weight of the gun, but the main thing is to find one that stays close to your leg when moving, without flopping around.

You will need to replace part #66 this part is usually included with the upgraded recoil/hammer spring.

Beware the pre 2005 version, it has a strange two part recoil spring (copy of the real thing) that doesn't work very well. Recoil is sloppy VERY sloppy.

The 2005 HW I have has the same two spring recoil rod in it and because of the enhanced spring guide, it's very hard and crisp. Only the outer spring is the issue in that one, but the issue in the 2005 spring guide is it's reported to be of pot metal or something and is prone to snapping (seen quite a few mentions of that on airsoft retreat over the years). The dual spring one is nice steel.

if it's a shooting gun and not a wall hanger, get the nineball hopup rubber.

Yeah I'm really confused with the versions right now.

I'll be sourcing from KSC Japan.

They have three versions available.

Phase II photo U18 slide HW
SOCOM pistol ABS
commercial slide HW

I'm deciding between the Phase II or the Commercial :S

Go for the most recent version(commerical I think), they fixed most of the problems from the older models.

(except for the part 66 i mentioned)

If anybody else here supports hattrick with the COMMERCIAL version let me know.

I am currently looking at the PHASE II because I saw metal kits for it ...well out of stock but I mean at least I know they were made.

I was actually doing some research on the KSC Mk 23. I actually picked one up (unknown version as of now). If anyone knows Oates76 and what version his KSC Mk 23 was PM me or post here.

Anyways, there are 4 versions essentially:

You've got them divided into 2 main versions the pre 2005 (old) and post 2005 ("new type") versions.

The old ABS version is the first gen (pre 2005)

05 Hardkick ABS version
05 Hardkick heavyweight

There is also the "Limited Edition" Heavy Weight Prototype Phase II version. I don't have any more information about it but I'm led to believe that it's a pre 2005 version.

It's definitely a neat gun, I haven't actually played with it yet (at the gun docs ATM) but something you should do is replace parts 65, and 66 and also the trigger return spring.
