Hi cap mag question

Something is/was causing the bb's from feeding into the gun. After removing and replacing mag about 8 times (looking for some kind of jam) it seemed to work again. Now, a couple times when putting the mag back in it sounded like the spring "let go" or something. But even after winding it again it would not work. After pulling the mag out there would be bb's in the receiver. Is the spring no good in the mag any more? I have only used it about 4 times.
Oh, it's a V4 S-system if that matters. Was using Biovals .2g

Is there no tension on the wind up wheal when you wind the mag?

YES: your spring is probably broken (the metallic spiral in this image http://www.ascn.at/images/hicap.jpg) you will need to open up the magazine to confirm this. If this is the case you have a couple of options (1) replace the spring with a new one or all out replace the mag (2) if the break is near on of the ends "this is where they break most of the time" you can try to re shape one end of the spring to re mount the winder or the feed wheal inside.

NO: There is probably something obstructing the feed wheel itself or there is a jam of of some sort in the hopper leading to the feed wheal (a spoked wheel of sorts that connects to the spring to feed bbs into the gun. The best course of action if this happens is to open the mag and look for a jam or obstruction in the hopper or feed wheal.

hopefully this fixes your problem.

Tried mag again today. Mag winds up properly and releases when tab is pulled back but bb's are not feeding into gun. It may shoot 1 or 2 then dry shoots. BB's are in the little feeder tube between mag and chamber but not making it up to firing position.Any thoughts? Thanx.

When it's just as you described...if you gently push the mag up and let go of it...does it shoot 1-2 more and the dry fire again?

If so...the BB retaining hook can be modded a bit to improve feeding.

If not...toss the mag out.

Have you tried another mag? If you have only tied using this mag than perhaps tout tappet plate or nozzle may be broken in which case it has nothing to do with the magazine. If other mags work than this is not the case but it may be worth it to shine a flashlight down the barrel and see (thorough the bottom of the hop up or the "feed tube) if the nozzle is reciprocating or not.

2 mags were acting up. Took both apart today. One of them had a bb stuck in section where wheel with fingers is located. Retried, and it seemed to be ok, not perfect. Gun was still missing the odd shot. Other mag was clean but still does not work very well.

If both mags are not working properly perhaps you should try a standard low to mid cap mag that is not wind up. if it continues to act up the problem could be in your gun

One grain of sand in my MP5's hicap fully jammed it from feeding. I found this after the game when I opened it up, was stuck in between the teeth of one of the gears. Open yours up and make sure the gears are ok, and your tension spring didn't break at the 90deg bend.
