Insane shipping cost.... *Rant alert*

I don't know what Optics Planet think fabric is made of, but apparently a
vest,
pair of boots
ESS goggle
double pistol pouch
belt
dump pouch

would cost $160 for a USPS Shipping, or $190 for Priority. What do they think fabric are made of? Lead? I honestly don't think you need to have 4X area of packing peanuts for this. (Mt laptop package had 1:10 ratio of packing peanuts...its a year and I still use em to ship out goods...)

And yea, I choose UPS Saver for half the cost of USPS express (Priority is $6 off, hopefully like the site said using higher end UPS I can avoid Brokeage) (I know about them, but lately I'm really pissed off at Canada Post for saying twice they deliver my package and the third time saying my address doesn't exist when I can see it from google maps.

Sorry I just have to rant cause this is unbelieveable.

Likely a brokerage fee added in there. I bought my leather A2 flight jacket from the US in 2002, was just under $300, our dollar was worth about $0.62US back then, so ended up costing $500 by the time it showed up at my door via UPS................. and they billed me about $108 brokerage fee in order for the box to be placed in my hands. Highway fucking robbery, I didn't even know and luckily I had some cash kicking around.

Try buying a set of v2 gear on Ehobby or Redwolf. Shipping is actually more than the initial cost. For 3 little metal parts.

Or wort a 16$ pouch with 21$ of shipping.

Makes me mad!

It isn't just the cost of shipping. It is for them to "handle" your item (dump it in a box and then slap a shipping label) that is costing you.

I've found recently that most places are jacking up S&H to boost profits while "appearing" to be low cost. It really grinds my gears.

I recently paid extra to have my items handled into a shot up box by a local retailer. Boy was I pissed. I really don't care if they reuse a box but DAMN at least make it presentable. At least he taped it to shit to make it structurally sound.

Had I been around to sign for the package I would have down right refused it and asked for a refund.

Not likely. Brokerage fee when shipped via USPS is $8, and is never charged by the sender. It is charged by Canada Post on behalf of the CBSA when it gets turned over to our system at the border. It is a flat rate $8, regardless of the value of the package.

Private carriers (such as UPS, FedEx, DHL, TNT, Purolator, etc) are more expensive.

@kullwarrior - Dave's tactical is in BC and most likely carries most of what you are looking for - optics planet is indeed a shitty place to order from, try and keep your dollars in country if you can.

I had to pay $15 shipping for a $12 spring not too long ago. It weighs a fraction of a pound, but I still got fucked.

USPS/Canada Post are usually a bit better when it comes to brokerage, but you still get the shaft. What's great too is most of the sites you get murdered on shipping to canada offer FREE US shipping.

That's why i'm glad i'm only 45 minutes from the border. I order all my stuff from the US, ship it to the closest UPS store (5 minutes from the border), and drive across and get it myself. No brokerage, 5 bucks at the store to pickup the package, some gas money and pay bridge tolls and tax on the items and i'm back home in under 3 hours.

Any time the shipping looks nuts, i won't buy from that store. Sometimes you can find a store that charges more for the part/piece but they charge less for shipping so it works out in the end.

Heck, i gotta go down to snag some coil springs i ordered for my dads car soon.

Lol folks I order from optics planet because it is better than Canada retailer who Jack up prices 2x from the 2008 amount (2009 catalog had alot of the gears I purchased at 33-66% of the 2008 ones)

Kullwarrior, you can't have your cake and eat it too. You might be saving on the item, but you'll pay it in shipping. Drive 10 minutes to P&D or Drop Zone or even go WEM and I'm sure you'll find all that you want, get it same day and not have the headaches.

Well, you have a choice. Order from Canadian retailers who might have a higher price, or order from overseas and pay more for shipping and gamble on paying taxes and brokerage.
