HELP!!! KJW Hi-Capa KP-05 slide problem!!!
normally, when the gun is empty, the slide locks back and you would have to put in a new mag right? well, for my gun, when you put in a new mag, theres a 50-50 chance of the slide magically sliding forward without me touching the slide release. it really annoys me because this gun is only 1 week old! is there a fix to this problem? please help out. =|

***heheh...post this to the other thread by accident...****
It's supposed to rack forward automatically 100% of the time. That's a design feature of the Hicapa (whether you want it or not). As parts wear it may or may not happen. I think it depends on the wear on the mag follower and the slide stop. |

hmm, so you mean this is inevitable? but this didnt happen before... what do you think was the part that worn out. i might want to replace it to have manual control of the slide again (only to have it wear down...) =S

No...what I meant is that the slide is supposed to rack forward automatically 100% of the time when a loaded mag is inserted. It get's iffy some times with different slide stops and worn mags.
KJW's copied TM's Hicapa...less than precisely in some parts. Close...but not exactly. |

oh... are all GBBs like this or is this "feature" on select models?

So far as I know...just the TM HiCapa (and copies). The WA Hicapa is not a copy...it's a different design altogether.

If it is sliding forward automatically for you once you insert a fresh mag, what is the issue? Saves you the time of having to hit the slide release yourself .

well two thing, my old pellet gun had the same problem after 2 weeks of use (making me think that the slide release on this gun broke), and i just like to manual control of things. but i guess i could live with it...

If it automatically loads a new round and is ready to fire....what's the problem?
Just aesthetics? |

It is NOT feature of the Hicapa, even the TM one.
TM's do it most of the time because the feed spring is quite soft to prevent damage to the BB while being just stiff enought to feed and lock the slide. This cause the slide lock not to move all the way up into the groove of the slide, and then when the impact of the new mag in the gun is transfered to the slide, the catch disengages and the slide moves forwards. You can "fix" this by carefully filling the catch into a more sharp angle (more square. If you look at the top right corner, it is angled slightly). It can cause more slide wear however. My KP-05 does the same, but only when I ram the mag in. My late TM Hicapa 5.1 did the same. Only when I ram the mag. |

@ styrak, yes, its just aesthetics. i like to push to button. makes me feel special. lol
@ kos-mos, yea, this only happens when i ram it in. o well, i guess its like having the choice of either manual or automatic engagement of the slide =S |

If you do happen to get a replacement part, you could hold the slide and press the slide release while slowly pushing forward the slide. This way your slide catch wont wear out as quick. I've have my kp-05 for about 3-4 months and mine is still fine. But then again, i could've gotten lucky and mine was built sligtly better than yours, or you just got unlucky and got a bad one.

@ curlex. yes, i could do that, but that would bring up another problem. the slide will not go forward completely, leaving 3-4 mm of space, enough to see the guide rod. i dont know if it is due to a weak recoil spring. another way to cause this is if you release the slide with the gun pointed up. i guess the gravity is stronger than the recoil spring. anyways, i sent the gun in last friday for the guy to take a look and possibly do some repairs.
