Question G&G R4 Questions

I'm looking into buying myself one of the G&G R4 (Full stock version) and I have a few questions about it before I do. I apologize if these seem like noob questions, but I am one. I've got no idea what the insides of the front section of an M4 look like. Here they are:

1. I am interested in replacing the RIS system with something a little longer. Do I need to buy a new outer barrel, gas block, or anything else? I was thinking about a 9" RIS.

2. I want to get a set of flip-up battle sights for a 20 mm rail, and I want to know whether or not I need a gas block to replace the triangle sight, or if I can just take the original sights off, and leave it like that. Also, can I use a longer RIS (see above) to cover the area where the sight was?

3. If replacing the rails, what (if any) are the compatibility rules? I've heard about delta rings and stuff, but all that confuses me. Do G&G GR16 rifles have special parts?

Here is the hand guard I am considering to go with my R4:

And here is the gas block I would get if possible, or needed.

Thank you all in advance for your time, it is greatly appreciated. I am a new player, trying out the sport, and I hope to make it a great experience. If you don't understand any of my questions (they may be a tad confusing) feel free to PM me for clarification.

Welcome to the sport, and glad to see you know of something called GRAMMAR!

I'm not really in much position to answer the questions you have asked, but some friendly advice on getting into this sport with the local communities is getting Age Verified. Once you do that, you will have access to the classifieds and wont be stuck with just those half-breed cansofts. You will have a MUCH wider selection of airsoft guns to choose from, and would even be able to find JUST what your looking for so you won't have to worry about those mods you have in mind.

Also for threads like this, you would want to post them in the Newbie Tank. Just a heads up!

Great choice a G&G was my first real airsoft gun.

I personally have the carbine G&G, and to answer your question; no you do not have to buy a new outer barrel. I have a Larue replica rail which slides right over without a hitch. As for the gas block, you may remove it, and the front site at your decresion. Most flip up front sites will mount nicely on the RIS anyways.

As for using a longer RIS to cover where the front site is, that's exactly what was done with mine. A 10 inch rail was placed over the carbine barrel leaving about an inch of the outer barrel sticking out.

This is a smaller version of the RIS on mine.

Many replica rails usually come with a delta ring.

Hope this helps, sorry if this sounded like an unorganized jumble, work was exausting, and I dont care right now.

Haha well, I do somewhat pride myself on being one of the few people, it seems, who paid attention in elementary english classes. And thank you both for your help, it is greatly appreciated.

Might I suggest becoming age verified, so you can then throw all your hard earned money into the airsoft money hole.
