Recommended Magazines During Games
Was wondering how many magazines everyone has with them on the field. Trying to figure out how many i need to get. I know every game is different. For instance indoor shooting semi-auto with hi-caps you arent going to need as much as you would playing outdoor full auto with some mid-caps. I am planning on playing both indoor and outdoor games and think that i would like to get mid-caps around 100 rounds/mag.

I like the MAG brand mid caps. Works for indoor or outdoor and if you lose one it doesn't hurt as much.

I finally got to hit TTAC3 for a game on Friday. They're indoors CQB, real caps only, semi only and no blind firing. From 8:30 start to 11:30, I only used up maybe 2-3 full mags worth on my AEG with 1 mags worth out of my pistol. And from my scans of other indoor games around, it doesn't seem like hi caps are allowed but don't quote me on that but I think it really depends on the host.
It also depends on you're playing styles. Some of the guys at that game probably went through easily 4 mags worth but they played aggressively. I on the other hand being my first game played cautiously. Another contributing factor I can think if would be the size and scope of a game. Fridays game was just less then a dozen bodies, others run with 40 or so and I'm sure they can go even larger. Honestly though, I think its best to have extra ammo on hand and not need it then to run out in the middle of a fire fight. EDIT: I brought 5 midcaps for my AEG and 3 for my pistol on Friday.

I carry 12 mags, 5 reals, 4 100 rnd mid and 3 75 rnd mids. At games that allow hicaps, I also carry one hicap but have only ever used it in nonstop combat skirmish games. I suggest carrying as many as you can before they get cumbersome, so that you never need to refill mas in the middle of a fire fight
(also, I am NOT trigger happy, usually only go through 200-400 rounds in game) Last edited by AngelusNex; August 16th, 2009 at 00:26.. Reason: said typed mags instead of rounds |

alright thanks guys my current vest holds about 4 mags plus the one in the gun so i think i will try 5 for indoor and then find another way of carring more.
Sepulcrum, how do you carry so many? |

I usually take current issues of Maxim and GQ. It demontrates both class and manliness at the same time.
I find reading airsoft magazines during an airsoft game is as lame as going to a Metallica concert with a Metallica t-shirt.

for indoors I'll run 5 x 70 round AK mags and at least one pistol with 3-4 mags. when I say at least, I might pack 2 or 3 pistols with a spare mag each or more depending on kit real estate. (this is all Duckmans fault!) why change mags when you can just pack more pistols and grab a different one when you run dry?
for outdoors with the AK rig I'll use those same 5x70 round mags plus 3x150 round mid caps. again, as many pistols and mags as I can find space for. with an M4, I run what I can carry as I hate walking back to the safe zone to reload. 9x130 rd midcaps, 1x160 rd midcap, and 2x180 rd midcaps. 8 of the 130's go in my rig and one in the gun. the other 3 higher midcaps go on a drop leg mag carrier. pistol mags, as many as you can find space for and physically carry. but it totally depends on the game. some games allow unlimited pistol mags while having an AEG ammo limit. less primary mags means more space for pistols and mags! :P all mags are metal! |
