if i wanted to upgrade the fps on my weapon, and all i did was change the spring, would i need to change anything else, or would it be fine with just a spring change?

Make sure your battery can pull the spring.

What gun are you running to upgrade?

If you have nylon bushings, put in metal ones. Also if it's a lower-end gun changing the piston probably wouldn't hurt.

How strong of a new spring? what's target Fps? I assume you want 400 right? go for 380, AEGs get that no prob with M100 - M110 spring if you have a good seal in the hopup and a tightbore.

Metal bushings, ball bearing spring guide, m120 spring.
If you want your gearbox to be stable, get a MASK sorbo piston head, and/or MASK sorbo cylinder head which requires you to remove teeth, or you could buy the Modify one which is already removed for you. |

Why do you want it at 400? If it's at 370, just leave it there. 360-380 is the sweet spot for performance on airsoft guns.

Might want to buy a spare tappet plate and maybe spare gearset too, 9.6V batteries tend to kill those pretty quick. An 8.4V battery, high mAh will pull any spring that spits out at 400fps easily as long as the shimming is fine. And as above, 400fps is rather useless to go for anyways, I actually downgraded one of my MP5s from 400fps to around 360-370fps because I saw the worst performance out of it last year than in previous years when it sat around 380fps. And I always use 0.28g BBs and 8.4v 3000+mAh batteries.
