it's worth the money if that's what your asking, 7075 aluminium is rediculously strong, and making it into a V2 mechbox takes care of the front end weakness... Although what it's worth to you is completely different.

Yeah with that you could run a metal piston, piston head, and cylinder head on a very stiff spring without any fear.
I guess their real market is, those with more money than they know what to do with, those looking for ultimate durability, or those running insanely high muzzle velocity setups.

For me...no.
Personally I have yet to break a mechbox. My AEG's run under 400fps...I rarely play in the really cold (and I tend to run a V3 if it's nippy out). Recently, my main go-to field gun is a v3...and I haven't heard/seen many of those break. I've had plenty of V2's and haven't broken one yet. For the amount of tooling work that goes into machining a mechbox out of 7075...it's a fair price. Especially landed and just a local e-mail away. There's some guys who will pay anything to try the trickest/strongest/best parts...and so it may be worth it to them. Ajax (fixed) custom's makes a V2 saver...they're supposedly running up to 700+fps without breakage. Those only cost $40 if you can get one. Last edited by m102404; June 3rd, 2009 at 09:49.. |

Sorbo's are cheap. I wouldn't take mine out ever, Maybe use it in conjunction but why choose when you could use both?

I didn't say "don't use sorbos ever since this is better". This part looks like it may need drilling or modification of the upper receiver and metal hop-up units. And sorbo cylinder heads require filing the piston. Either way so far, MASK piston head is the easiest alternative.

If you were to build a DMR or a gun that would shoot about 450FPS, it would be worth it.
It's a nice looking piece. |

I am very interested in it. I just cracked a V2 mechbox in my SPR.

Thank god i live in a tropical country!! I have my v2 settled at 400 fps, and im going to either buy a stiffer spring and seal all the leaks or stretch the stock spring and seal the leaks which would get my gun back to 450 fps. Although that v2 protector looks interesting and it wouldnt hurt if i fit one on my gun for just for insurance.....i wonder if fits an mp5?
