MP5...safety won't work?

I got myself a nice crappy Lycaon by Aftermath last year and its been holding up quite well with only a few minor repairs. The only real problem i've had with it is that it can be fired while still on "safe" mode. Not that big of a deal i hope, but i was just wondering if this is a sign that the selector plate or trigger assembly is about to fail, and that i should bother cracking it open and risk snapping the shitty plastic body...

It's more than likely the selector plate or the little cam that attaches to the selector lever (not sure what the part is called). Buying a replacement selector lever would be a waste of money, especially considering the one listed above wouldn't even fit the gun. And even if it was the right one, you'd still have the same problem.

Nope, that wasn't the part I was talking about. It's A little plastic part that's basically the interface between the selector lever and the selector plate... I wish I knew what it was called.

Yeah, that's it... I'd say it's either that little thing or the selector plate that are broken / worn and not moving the selector all the way back into safe, which is why neither the mechanical or electrical safety is engaging in the safe position.

Dude, both your posts are useless and wrong.
why do you bother posting?
reported.

mattman: does the trigger move in safe mode? that'd be the selector plate, where it blocks the trigger, that's deformed.

When you take the MP5 apart and put the selector switch assemble on the naked mechbox you'll see how the different points work for the different modes, mine doesn't do safety either and the issue is about 1-1.5mm of distance between the setting that puts the gun in safe and where the little black part sits at it's furthest. It would be nice to see a company address this very very common problem with MP5 selector switches. The issue is not the selector switch or the little black part but the plastic piece at the very front the the mechbox, if the notch was 1-1.5mm longer/deeper the issue would be no more. The little plastic piece that sits right in front of the trigger (spring actuated) is the issue.

Here's a video of the part I'm referring to, it would also be good for companies to make the selector plate contact area 1.5mm wider (towards the front) this would solve it!

YouTube- mp5 mechbox issue
