Best first-time AEGs?

I had my hopes set on Sniper, but apparently that's out of the question until I'm known on some fields sooo.

What are some good AEGs to get, that have decent upgrades.

I like Power / Accuracy over Rate of Fire (Though it's nice too)

My only thought so far was the TM M14

Hey, from what i've seen and heard, the TM M-14 is a damn good gun, and can be made (once people begin to know you) into a sniper rifle. To be honest, one of the main reasons people here on ASC discourage new people from sniping isn't just the person being new, it's the fact that being a sniper is expensive as hell. A stock sniper rifle from just about any company wont shoot any farther or more accurately than a stock AEG. So, when your out in the field, you don't have any advantage over AEG's, but they have an advantage over you of being able to fire full auto. A lot of new people like the idea of being a sniper, but from what i've seen, many newcomers will buy a sniper rifle, play a couple games while being horribly outgunned, and then quit because they aren't having fun. So don't take it personally, we'd just like to see new people enjoy themselves.

Can't go wrong with an M4.

Lots of upgrades and you can customize it to your playing style. All in all a pretty noob friendly gun.

Some people were telling me the length (45") is a bit long for indoor and close-ranged play.

That was my main-concern.

An M-14 yes, but an M4 should be plenty small enough, and the retracting stock definitely helps. I forgot to add that you should look at getting age verified, as their are tonnes of awesome deals in the classifieds, and it should be pretty easy for you to find a weapon that suits your needs and playing style.

M4 is a jack of all trades gun. Decent range accuracy and yet small enough that it is efficient indoors. And it is the simplest and cheapest platform to customize.

If you wanted to be sniper, ynot get an M14 or a M16, both are really long guns and have decent range I hear.

If you're looking mainly to play CQB, then you could also look for an MP5, or similar platforms. The M4 is great, don't get me wrong, but its not your only option. However, this being said, customizing, as well as upgrading an M4 is great because of the sheer amount of parts available, as well as how easy it is to find parts for it.

Agreed with most people here in that the M4 is your best bet.

Largest variety of parts and affordable upgrades available for it.
It is one of the most familiar guns in airsoft, so if you were to come across any problems or need any troubleshooting, there are a lot of people that can help and replacement parts are easy to find.

A M4 variant is a great choice to start. Now you're going to ask why.

The AEG itself is only one part of the puzzle. When you get the most common gun on the ground you'll be able to find mags, pouches to carry them, furniture to hang off the outside of it, and lots of upgrades for inside.

Get something a bit more off the path and you're stuck with no magazines, or shoving them into your pockets because there are no easy to find pouches of vests to carry them in.

A clear lower receiver one is a cheap buy in. Since mags, pouches, sights, etc. will all often swap between all brands if you decide you need more muscle down the road all the nice stuff you've added on will transfer right over so you won't need to get another whole load of parts.

There are a few others AEGs like the MP5 variants that also boast a big footprint like the M4.

If you're still not sure take the time to visit a few local games and see the gear firsthand.

I will admit that the G36 is another very good platform to start with. I ran with one for some time and was very pleased with it. The only issue I found were the mags, however a STANAG magazine (M16/M4 style mag) conversion is availabe relativly cheap.

Your first gun should be one of the following,

AK , MP5, M4

Nothing else should be considered.

Reasons

1. lots available both resale and new
2. Easy to re-sell when you move on
3. Lots of Gear options
4. mags readily available , and inexpensive.
5. lots of people very comfortable working on them if you want upgrades.. or need repairs

I'd still add a G36 in there.. for the V3 mechbox if nothing else.

anthing common is fine really, I'm sure you can find some parts to make it more CQB oriented.
