Customs
I have some family in Maine and they have offered to ship me AEG's o I won't have to pay 2-3x cost. Are the chances of them getting through better than if I bought them from say Airsoft GI for example? Or will they still more than likely get confinscated at customs? If I can save 300-400 dollars a gun it might be worth it if one gets confinscated.

Short Answer, Yes. If it's from the US, it will get seized. But your best bet is getting verified and look through the classifieds.

Then there's also issues with your file having a firearm related note... I don't think it is worth it either.
