Kraken AK-47 Standard Upgrades
Hello,
I have read the thread about upgrading your Kraken when you get it, to make it a reasonable gun. http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...ghlight=Kraken I read that it is recommended to strip the gun down and replace the grease inside with new higher grade grease, and he recommended lithium grease as one of the greases you can use. Is this grease a good enough grease, http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/pr...romSearch=true it is Canadian Tire grease so I am not sure if it is good enough. Also, I read that it is recommended to get new Shims and Bushing, since I am a low budget person, I found these: http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...roducts_id=880 Also, Im not sure what bushing to get because I have no idea what size the bushings for the Kraken need to be. Also since this is my first gun, Im not sure how to regrease or replace shims and bushings, and was wondering if these was a video on how to do this. I have already watched the MechBox video on how to Dissasemble and Reassemble the gun, but these videos did not show me how to replace these parts. Now the major question is, since Im new to Airsoft, and I currently only play in my friends back yard with a group of 6 people, are these upgrades even needed?, or are the recommended only if you want to play in real games with the Kraken. Thanks in advance Last edited by Eclipse788; April 4th, 2009 at 13:01.. |

6mm bushings, I'd also reccommend replacing the piston, cylinder and cylinder head
http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...oducts_id=1104 http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...roducts_id=676 I'd also recommend a guntech. All these upgrades will increase the consistency and life-span of your gun. |

Yes, those are good shims. The bushings you want should be 6mm, unless krakens come with 7mm bushings now. Modify are a good brand for bushings, as are Prometheus and Guarder.

Eclipse,
A: Thanks for making Amos's sweet info so easy to find. B: I have hade my kracken since Sept. 08. I game it every weekend, I have put 50,000-80,000 rounds through it. I put a metal body on it and I use a 8.4 1600 mah ni-mh stick battery. (It was crono'd at 396-402 Fps with .2's. I don't know how/ don't care!) I wasn't gona put this in, but it leads to, C: lol I was playing yesterday and while playing my baby started to sound sick, do you know what fails first? It was still firing when I left at the end of the day, lol but every once and awhile it made a slower thud thud sound instead of the thuk thuk that's normal, then 3 to 4 bb's would come out like a shot gun and hit the ground 10 feet in front of me. Good gun, right out of the box, hope you don't mind me asking all the Q&A and jacking your thread. |

Rampage. You could always take it to Damage or another gundoc...
I'd wager it was the BB's, maybe cause they were low quality or a bad batch. Sounds like a misfeed issue where it will double feed/jam and double feed again and when you go to shoot it again it pushes all the BB's that were chambered. (I had that same problem with lower quality BB's).

It will be going to damage, It may be the bb's. They were bb kings, however I've put 6000-9000 rounds of this ammo though it with no prob. other than having to lube the mag.s, a cue tip with a little bit of lube on it (shock oil for R/C cars).

Update: I have take'n the front end off, try'ed it out. Mecbox in the body, no prob. I think/hope the bb's may have been the problem. Keep the ideas comming. Thanks L473ncy. Look forward to meeting you when you get back.
