SG 552 or SCAR

I'm not sure which company for either, so input on that is accepted too.

But comparison on the guns is assuming that it will be for indoor mainly (as that is closest and most easily accessible) and that I want a gun that is reliable and will require as little maintenance as possible.

and best performance in-game is another aspect of the gun im looking for.

I know i've asked many questions about this or that, i guess thats why i hide behind the noob forum so i dont get flamed, i'm not trying to spam, just trying to get input from ppl who have used these before.

G&G SCAR-L is excellent. It's rugged and reliable. Shoots hard and fast out of the box.

It uses regular M4 mags, so it's no problem to find them or a vest to fit them. Parts and accessories are also no trouble to find.

Plus, it's way sexier than the 552 :P

Go with VFC SCAR-L, you won't be wrong with this gun. I got mine and play very hard in stock form, It's never break on me except I will crack mechbox upgrade soon then it will break on me.

Both guns have external parts that can be very hard to replace if broken, on top of that the SCAR has a proprietary nozzle that can be broken in a BB jam (not very likely but it happens.) SCAR uses ver.2 mechbox, Sig uses the stringer ver.3 that in my experience jams in semi more often (full auto burst frees it up), neither can fit a large battery, both can fit a small LiPo. G&G have had a back track record in the past for garbage electricals but from what I can tell from my Cansoft G&G they have improved quite a bit but still aren't perfect. Sig552 has very limited mag options, SCAR takes armalite.

I have a Vfc Scar, and love it. when indoors its nice to have the option to fold the stcok over and change out the barrel easily. The gun feels so nice in your hand, and has loads of room on the rails to hold whatever you want.

after rereading all the reviews, it sounds like they are just as reliable as each other, each having its own problems, sooo If I am assuming correctly that they are so similar,

It'll also come down to your preference, and how each gun feels in your hands. Also, you said you were mostly at an indoor field. will it be mostly CQB? If so, the SCAR's folding and adjustable stock is tough to beat. If there is a way for you to try out other people's guns at your neaby airsoft place, try to get your hands on one of each gun, and see which feels better for you. Most airsofters are pretty good about letting people try their guns out, as the more airsofters we get the better. as for the availability of each, your best bet is to get age verified, which i found to actually be a very easy and painless process, and then look in either the AV retailer section, or the classifieds. I actually just bought a SCAR yesterday, i'm just waiting to get ahold of it. Hell, if i see you at a game in the city, i'll let you give it a try.

As far as I know most if not all of the SCARs use STANAG mags, so that means you won't have to work as hard to get mags, can swap between team mates if you're in a jam, and if you get another rifle that also uses STANAGs your current mags and pouches will transfer over.

The reliability thing is that the ver.2 mechbox is weaker than the ver.3. A non-reinforced ver.2 mechbox with a 400fps spring in it will eventually crack, either crack the front end off or crack between bushing holes. A ver.3, unless a fluke, will last a very long time. I have seen stock TM ver.3 mechbox shells running 440fps into the tens of thousands of rounds without any wear, I have seen TM ver.2 mechbox shells break with 360fps upgrades within a season. A reinforced ver.2 mechbox shell will last quite a bit longer, but I have seen SystemA and G&P shells crack and break. The only time I have ever heard of a ver.3 breaking was Tokyo Seven and my guess is that was a fluke.

For the love of God, don't go SiG 552. Upgrades can be brutal for it, especially just equipping yourself with an ample amount of magazines.

Honestly, I do love my SiG 552. When I first got it, I was reluctant, but it was all that was available at the time. Over time, though, due to the immense amount of time I've put into it, I've fell in love with it. Problem, though, is that things such as magazines, are very hard to get. 5 of the realistic 43rd magazines with fake rounds in them will cost me about $250 and some change at my doorstep, opposed to buying, in your case, full-metal M4 magazines. Believe full-metal M4 magazines sell for like 90$ at your doorstep for 5? Correct me if I'm wrong, please, don't want to mislead the man, heh.

It's not just magazines that are difficult to obtain with a SiG 552. I find that the pistol grip is kind of flimsy compared to other weapon's pistol grips, so you have to be a little more careful with them. Everything else, so far, has survived what I've put it through. The only way you're going to get a top rail as well, is if you mount one yourself manually, or you dump the cash for a HurricanE 552, although worth the money, it is quite the expendature.

Motor's can also be a bit of a pain if you ever plan to upgrade one. As far as I know, the motor a SiG 552 takes only fits other SiG series guns, and the PSG-1. A lot of places I've visited don't even market a medium sized motor, so it usually requires an oversea's order, which I guess isn't too bad if you plan to do overseas orders. Tune up kits can also be a pain, as there isn't a big variety for the SiG. I've only found one on WGC, and it's not the type I'm even looking for (I'm going high-speed build). Result being you have to order the parts separately, which sometimes costs a little bit more.

Hope this helped for selection. I still h-- love my SiG 552, though.

i own the classic army scar light and i love it ,running at 350fps with a black python barrel, the only problem is today i bought a jg sig seals and its bloody brilliant 400fps out of the box on .20 with the hop off 360 with .25 with hop adjusted.
exact marui copy ,very high quality overpowered for uk sites but has a gearbox which is extremly well made and requires no upgrades, if you cant make your mind up buy both
