So my EoTech 552 lense cracks
LOL!
I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing! The second day of having a M130 spring installed, I was shooting to test the gearbox and I see my vision being blurry and shakey. I pull out and holy smokes a hairline crack on the lense of my EoTech 552. No way! It still works. I hope it can survive. lol Huang, this may surprise you somehow. |

I just wonder how did it crack ? is it because of you mount it with AEG that has M130 spring on and the impact of that spring can crack the Eotech. That's just impossible. Next time, go to wallmart and get a red dot from there, it's guarantee use with real steel.

Yep, I never had problems with this 552. I had it for months now, and just today, I shot some bursts and goes the lense. The gearbox is loud even when I greased it, I guess I need the silent piston head.

China clone at its best
552 is known for its very fragile glass, so is the 553 (airsoft world of course). I have broken my share of airsoft eotech hehe |

Wow. I never expected this could happen from shooting an AEG. When I read the title, I assumed you had been shot in the lens.

I don't think, it has been shot right to the glass because of the crack is just so straight and shape. it doesn't look like has been shot by BBs.

Yeah, not suggesting it was shot. Just saying when I saw the thread title, I thought it would be about taking a BB to the sight... I was going to suggest a lens protector. But nope, that wasn't it at all.. lol

Makes me wonder the rate of fire to be honest. The vibration in the AEG's mechanism at x rate of speed, put against most probable glass defects and possible over "torqued" assembly of the unit may have lead to the glass failure. Its not impossible, just not likely, in this case the small remote chance proved itself a bit more real than most are willing to believe it could have been. It is though most likely that there was defects in the glass, bubble, chips etc etc. There could very well have been a small crack that passed the human eye from the cooling process of making the glass. There's also the possibility that during the CNC process of cutting the glass that the glass over heated and a micro-fracture started, and the result of the vibration from the AEG was enough to cause its final failure.

I still can't understand the craze for replica EOTechs, it's super expensive for how fragile and basic it is.

Yeah, I guess. I wouldn't put these Huang EOTechs on a real steel, because I'd expect either the internal to fail or glass to shatter, but it surprised me it happened on an AEG.

ROF? Mine is really bad, an 8.4v large pulling a m130, same rate as 9.6v small. Max of full auto I had used was 3 shot bursts. |

I hear the Angel silent head sets make a difference, but are very hard to find. Systema makes absolutely no difference whatsoever. My CA M15 sounds exactly the same with the Systema silent set than it did with the stock CA internals. Best I've heard is some claim it lowers the volume by a small amount. You're better off just going with a sorbo pad with a standard head instead. Sorbo will also help with longevity of your mechbox shell.
