Ics m4 ris
I am currently in possesion of a ICS M4A1 RIS
I was just wondering what upgrades/accessories you guys would recommend for it. I was thinking a KA MK23 Silencer, a reflex scope of somekind and some king arms mid-caps. Also could someone tell me what is a tightbore? Thanks |

Get rid of the factory RIS unit. Get a one-piece RAS and a better barrel nut and a one-piece outer barrel. I don't know how many times my handguard literally fell off the gun (forget about having an M203 that will stay on the gun).
I never needed to touch anything in the internals of a post-2005 gun.

Look at King Arms kits. They have a lot of different ones, some with outer barrels, stocks, RAS units, etc. You have to file the tabs on the side of the chamber though to fit as they are too thick.
If you don't want to end up spending a whole bunch of money on externals and internals as well, keep the gun at about 360 fps. That seems to be the magic number for the ICS guns.

Sorry but I have to ask how old are you???
I would say head over to JOC and talk to the guys there. I think the place they hang out at is Laser Trek (south Calgary location), while you're at it you can get verified by one of the admins/field marshals that runs the games (make sure you phone them up before you head out, cause only certain marshals can do it, I know Gish does it). Also don't EVER leave your gun with a gunsmith, if you do, make sure you get a receipt and CYA so that if they "lose" your gun while it's in the shop you can get renumerated. Most of the guys there are pretty honest though but there were a few problems with some of the techs though from what I can gather.

Thanks for the advice, im going to head down to Laser Trek when i have time. Also i would like to outfit a grenade launcher onto my M4. Would MadBull be a good brand for one? or is there a better one out there? Last edited by SXKilla; November 28th, 2008 at 00:44.. |

The tabs that hold the chamber firmly in the outer barrel. You'll see them if you pop the inner barrel assembly out of the gun.

You might want a spring upgrade for outdoors as ICS guns shoot about 320 stock. The easiest way is to purchase a whole new upgraded upper mechbox. That way you can also switch between indoor and outdoor setups very quickly.
If your ICS is an older model, you may want to consider replacing the plastic bushings with metal ones. As for grenade launchers, most are pretty equal so go for the look you want. Mad Bull ones work very well. Your choice of shells will be a bit more important.

ICS has the split mechbox right? That should make it really easy to switch between indoor/outdoor setups. PERSONALLY I would say however to get an indoor gun (maybe an MP5) and an outdoor gun (something longer like an M4 or G36K).
Also I should probably ask this too... Are you married??? Make sure that you talk to your wife about this stuff first because airsoft really "turns wives onto husbands, children onto fathers, and neighbours against you." Seriously though try and limit the money you dump into airsoft (by purchasing used off the classifieds) as it adds up quite quickly and usually the wives/girlfriends aren't very happy after they find out how much you've spent on a bunch of toys. Make sure you sign up for JOC (Joint Operations Calgary) and introduce yourself, it's basically the HQ of most of the clubs in Calgary.

I'm not actually married, I'm single too (I'm only first year university man) but the stories that you hear once you've been here for a while are.... Well to say the least just make sure you don't disclose the true price of all your stuff once you're married. Really (I mean REALLY) lowball the price of what you got them for.
