Question Cobra microTalk LI 7000 Radio and Bowman/Swimmer-style headset?

Hi folks, I received these Cobra radios as a gift and am now looking for a decent headset to go along with them.

I was considering this Bowman-style one or a swimmer-style from ebaybanned (with the single-pin Motorola-style plug) but was looking for some feedback on whether I'm being foolish and should look elsewhere. Anybody have experience with this kind of combination? Does PTT work?

I'd noticed in some other threads that people were recommending the Cavalvy stuff off eBay, but after giving it a quick browse I think I'd like to give the bank account a bit of a breather. Plus I can only find 2-pin setups...

Thanks

I've tried a Chinese clone swimmer set (single pin) from Huang with my Cobra and it worked fine. I don't know if his stuff is the same stuff from Ebaybanned, but I can't imagine them being all that different.

Thanks for the reply, glad to hear it works for you. And it didn't give you chemical burns or anything like that? I heard that could be a problem - I realize China uses some crazy production processes but damn...

I'll probably order one in the next few days unless somebody comes up with a showstopper ("Drills into your skull and injects communism!", etc.)

Alright, I ordered it. Considered waiting to see if the dollar might climb a bit closer to par with USD but greed and impatience won out.

Will update once I receive it...

Alright, bit of a necro but I just remembered about this thread

Anyways, the swimmer-style seems to work great with my radio, PTT, all that. It is definitely loud though: I'm considering putting some foam over the ear piece just muffle it a bit but having the radio on minimum volume works well for now.

I have yet to fully field it though so I'm not sure about reliability. I'm also thinking of cracking open the PTT module and moving/adding a PTT button on the front so I can push it with my weapon's stock. Something for another day perhaps.

Also, I see they have dropped in price somewhat since I bought... Although the dollar has dropped to so probably about the same with conversion.

I've got a bowman on order right now as well so I will see how it works too.
