Well, just moved to Canada and left my trusty gun behind...
...Just moved from California to Canada, and it looks like I'm going to be working up here for awhile. So I started looking into getting back into airsoft.
I always knew that guns being shipped to Canada was a bad idea, but I heard conflicting thoughts on the matter. Looking around, the consistent opinion is that it's a good way to lose money. I owned an Echo 1 M16/M203, which cost me about 300 dollars. I looked around some of the retailers and couldn't find E1, but rebuilding a similar combo looks like it could put me about 700 bucks in the hole or so. So I figured I would just have my friend break down the parts and ship it to me. Examples of things you CANNOT import: * AEG magazines with fake cartridges (i.e. P90, G36, SG 552 mags) * Frames, receivers, and metal bodies * Suppressors and silencers * Prohibited-length outer handgun barrels (i.e. USP Compact, Glock 26) * Hand and 40mm grenades that look real Examples of things you CAN import: * Magazines for AEGs and GBBs without fake cartridges * Outer barrels for most guns * Inner barrels of any type * Handgun slides * Flash suppressors * Scopes, red dot sights, iron sights, lasers * Rail systems and scope mounts * Springs, bushings, gears, pistons, or other gearbox parts * Batteries, BBs, loading tools * Helmets, goggles, body armor, tactical vests, camouflage Going through this list, it seems pretty clear. I can pretty much have everything shipped up except for the upper/lower receivers of the M16, right? This includes the stock, barrel, and internals, if I'm reading this right, plus my mags. I'm going to assume that the grenade launcher falls under the "can't ship" list (I really hope someone will tell me I'm wrong on that count), but what about the grenades? I have these: Does that fall under "realistic" looking? I seriously have no god damn clue. I figure if he can ship those, I can just buy the receivers up here and rebuild it. Appreciate the input. I've heard many conflicting opinions on this, and this place seems like a good place to finally get a final word on it. |

Welcome to ASC.
As far as what I can tell from your post, you should be able to get everything except the receiver of your M16, the M203 launcher. But be warned that it doesn't always end up that way, just because they're not technically illegal, doesn't mean that they won't get seized by the CBSA. As for your 40mm. I have the same ones and got them in just fine. But I've also heard of others having them seized. Nevertheless, its always a gamble when bringing in anything airsoft related. But as stated in the list you provided, the section of 'can import' should be fine. Hope it all works out for you. |

Alright, thanks. I guess I'll send the word down along with the money to ship up the parts to me. If that doesn't pan out... well, guess I get to start from scratch once again. Yay.
Are there any retailers that sell Echo 1 up here? The most common brands I've seen have been TM, CA, and ICS. |

JG exists up here. Its what Echo 1 is before it gets rebranded, since Echo 1 is american, for you it would be a common thing to see down there, but its not entirely non existant. There are folks that run some echo 1 guns up here as well.

Where in the States were you paying 300$ for a Echo 1?...

I put uh... 130 for the M16 and about 130 for the M203. It was somewhere in that neighborhood. I just put down 300 for both of them because it seemed like a nice, even number, and that's about what it came out too after taxes.

Ohh okay. You Americans have THEE lowest prices and you still buy Echo 1! Christ with what were used too if we had USA prices, I'm pretty sure everyone would be running around with a PTW!

You forget that 14 year olds in the US don't have that kind of money :P

You Canadians have outrageous prices. I started swearing at my computer when I was browsing online. 520 for a TM M16? Christ.
And, hey, E1 gets the job done. I've thrown, dropped, and banged that bastard for some time and it still works like it should. Unlike other guns where I paid twice as much and ended up scrapping it for parts.

Hey if you want an easy way to get your guns back over the border the train is a good way to do it. That or find a friend with a native quick pass, best things ever invented.

Ok, I figure I'll keep all my new guy in town (Or country, whatever) crap in one thread....
Now, where the hell do you buy guns? I was going through the FAQS and looking at links, but there were only two sites I found with a decent selection in stock. mopic and 007. Is there a lot of reselling going on, or do I need to drive into Vancouver and search around or what?
